I attach these to a box fan for kitty liter dust filtration. works great, the extra thickness makes them last longer.

We modified our filter opening from 1 to 4. We could only open it to 3. 7, and this filter fit perfectly, plus we did not want to go high than Merv 8, to put less strain on our fan, and again the filter was perfect, and was at our door 24 hours after ordering.
