Merv 8 Filters

(?) Had been using Merv 11 Filters. They kept shutting furnace down after less than a month. Called and you recommended Merv 8 Filters. Still shut down furnace after almost a month, but I dismissed the message on the thermostat, it came back on, but kicked furnace off again in just under a month. I did the same and so far the filter is ok. I thought this filter would last at least 2 months. Furnace has NEVER done this before. Should I try a cheaper filter?
