Bad filter sizing

I purchased (6) six 18x24x1 merv 8 filters for my daughters house. Upon installing one of the filters I almost lost it in opening for the filter. Upon inspection and measuring the filters, I found the filter were 1/4 tonarrow and 1/4 to short. The filters are barely held in place by the return air register. I am not pleased sizing of the filters.

Easy to use, fit very well. Will order again when I get low. I have 4 dogs that shed bad. Filters do great at trapping hair and order.
