I'm happy with the purchase, but I'm not happy about the bonded neutral issue. My understanding is that if using for home hookup then it would need to disconnected. Why would there not be an option to purchase with floating neutral for the many that plan on using for this very reason, hooked up to the home?
Easily powers my entire home during power outages, including a 5 ton HVAC. It’s a great, dependable cost effective alternative to installing a permanent backup generator such as a Generac, plus the ability to use elsewhere if/when needed.
I've only put ten hours on it so far, using only natural gas. Minor issues 1) When I opened it to do the first oil change, there was an extra CO sensor cable laying on the bottom of the chassis. 2) Upon cold start, it usually takes two to four tries to get it to run longer than 30 seconds. Once past all that, it will run as long as I need it to. 3) DuroMax does not have a rain cover that fits it for sale (yet).
Beast! Power, quiet, portable, versatile. What is this Gen lacking? Nothing. Whole house power then some. If you ever plan on moving this is a better choice. I plan on taking it with me.
I’ve had portable standby generators before, but never one with enough watts to effectively power the whole house. Struggled for a while with the cost of this big boy beast, but finally pulled the trigger. So glad I did - finished break in and changed oil and finally got to connect it to the house via interlock and 50 AMP breaker. I have everything in the house turned on - 4-ton heat pump AC, dishwasher, dryer, TV, internet, lights, and hot water tank - with gennie on propane. It isn’t even running at max, and it’s quiet enough to talk standing next to it. Pulling just under 9KW with everything running. Maybe I over-spec’ed…. 😏
Startup and break in were painless - filled oil, connected propane, pushed button, started immediately. My only issue is the 3/4” gas hose quick connect for NG has a 1/2” to 3/4” adapter screwed in, thus I have to remove to connect to my 3/4” NG pipe and that thing is on there so tight that I’m destroying it trying to get it off. I’ve tried heat, PB Blaster and a 2’ breaker bar with the fitting in a bench vise and it won’t budge. Otherwise it’s been super easy. Happy customer!
Although I've only used the generator for it's six-hour break0in, it seems to be working as expected. When I performed its first oil change, I noticed a redundant extra cable laying at the bottom of the chassis. I've confirm with DuroMax that it is an extra; the original is installed properly.
Received the Duromax 16000 trifuel and started running it a few times. So far working like a champ. Was able to power whole house including 5 ton AC and 2 ton AC (with soft starts) without issues. Highly recommend,
