Great unit, poor packing

I bought this about a month ago and am very pleased with it overall. Putting the unit together was easy, only took 20 minutes or so. It is very sturdy and has ample storage for all of my records, a large Yamaha receiver, and turntable. I was not pleased, however, with the packaging. The unit arrived damaged in two of the most visible spots possible. Better packing to reduce any movement inside the box during transit is needed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am thrilled with this unit, it is the perfect size for my record collection, incredibly solid and sturdy, looks amazing, and fits my turntable and amp perfectly.
I previously had a flimsy little bookcase-type-thing that had 6 12 by 12 inch cubes and was storing my records in that. It was clearly not designed for holding records and would wobble a little but it kinda worked. I was rearranging my living room setup and thought it would be perfect to put my turntable on top, but it wasn't a good fit. It was a little over 12 inches wide and my technics 1200 is a touch over 14. I looked at all kinds of bookshelves and etageres and you name it, but everything I could find was too narrow. Then I found this one...
It came in a big heavy box that was 80 lbs according to the UPS label on it. The way it was packed and completely encased in styrofoam on all sides was actually kinda impressive. No damaged corners or edges or anything. I didn't feel like lugging it up to the 3rd floor living room where it was going, so I unpacked the pieces in the garage and took them up in I think 3 trips, maybe 4. Assembly was a breeze, I think it might have taken 2 minutes. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand, you just sort of attach the sides to the back and add the top shelf, flip it over and slide in the rest of the shelves and boom. No screws, it kind of slides into place via these notches, and plastic pins hold them in place. Ikea could really learn something from these guys. Very easy, very sturdy, completely level. Have no reservations about loading the shelves with vinyl like I did with my old one.
Overall I could not be happier. It looks amazing, fits my collection perfectly, has a taller second shelf to fit a receiver/preamp/etc. I love how the 2 record shelves have a groove in the front to display some record sleeves. It's like they thought of everything that I wanted
