Great sound and solid reliability

Just completed upgrading all five of my first-generation Sonos components to current generation. The upgrade program provides great incentive. Every component is significantly improved in terms of sound quality, ease of set up and reliability, and the S2 app is great!

I have a Sonos Beam for my TV. It is also part of my multi-room audio system. The setup is very simple and the sound is awesome. I love my Sonos system. I have not figured out how to play different music in different rooms. I also have not figured out how to play music from my computer & I need to figure out how to add other users to my Sonos System so they can use the system when I am away from my system.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Superior Sound, Wireless

Use these with my ARC for surround sound. They work well with the ARC and sound awesome

Wish I could connect my Record Player

Love the ability to stream different music in different rooms and sync stations. Great sound. However, I'm unable to play my Vinyl collection without going out of pocket another $700 to buy a Sonos 'port' in order to plug in any sort of aux or RCA input. Sonos doesn't really play nice with other equipment, and that's my biggest qualm.

Good, not great

One thing for certain is that Sonos has mastered automatic set-up on Wifi. It is quick and easy. I was impressed how smoothly it configures itself having spent difficult times with other devices. I am using a Sonos One with mic and Sonos One to make a stereo pair. The sound quality is pretty good, but I do notice that the sounds lacks any warmth in the mid-range. This is something very common in low-end speakers today. You can adjust the equalizer and make the sound better, but it isn't great. Also, it would be nice if Sonos provided a simple sound-out mini socket so you could plug it into an amp or separate powered sub-woofer. I have watched a couple DIY videos on how to do this and once the warranty expires, I will do it. Nope, I'm not spending even more money for a Sonos sub. The microphone in the Sonos One (Gen2) is not as sensitive as in the Amazon Echo. You have to speak directly at the device and speak clearly. Echo is much more forgiving. In standby mode, the Sonos One is using 3 - 3.1 watts of power. With two speakers in a stereo pair, that is 6 - 6.2 watts of power running 24/7. I guess you could plug the speakers into an old fashioned timer, but why should the consumer have to do this? The engineers should tune down the stand-by power. When using Sonos with my iPad it usually does not sync properly. I have to fast forward and reverse a couple times to get the sound and picture frames aligned. Overall, the speakers are good, not great.
