Perfect first smart watch for child

I love the Garmin bounce watch. It fits the smallest of small female wrists. The watch size is perfect and light. The simplicity of the menu and buttons are ez for a child to use. My daughter can view and respond to messages instantly and easily. The tracking works great and accurately. Once boundaries are created I get notified immediately on my phone and Garmin tactic 7 sapphire solar watch that my daughter arrives home, leaves home, arrives school, arrives at parents, and when leaving. I'm noticed when she checks off chores she has done. I can see from app what her battery level is and I'm notified when her watch is plugged in and fully charged. When we go biking together she starts activity monitoring on watch and it records exactly where we go on a map showing route. It records distance, speed, duration, elevation, weather, all very similar to what my Garmin edge does. She can also see in her watch how many steps I've done in day compared to her. We are Garmin users for life . The price is very reasonable. The monthly service fee for tracking is very reasonable. The pinkish purple color she picked is beautiful. The only thing I wish was better is the battery life. 2 days is actually very reasonable when it comes to smart watches. Its also expected for something with these features, size, price point, and LTE. That being said as a parent who obviously spoils his child and is overprotective I would happily pay 2 or 3 times more for the same watch with longer battery and perhaps solar. We picked the bounce for her because of the safety and tracking monthly services . That was most important to us. If they offered location service fees with LTE on a a high end watch with longer battery life we would definitely have liked getting her the best available.

Great for delaying a cell phone for kids!

I purchased this a few weeks ago for my 9 & 11 year olds. They both love it, we use it for check-ins when they are out riding bikes or to communicate for after practice pick-ups. It works in locations my cell phone doesn’t which is handy living in a rural state.
My kids like the activity tracker, chores list and customizing the watch face. I like the boundary feature, it automatically alerts me when they arrive home from school.

My kiddo loves it. I’m not ready for him to have a phone, but this offers him some autonomy and me the peace of mind.

The GPS feature is terrible.

We’ve had it for just under a month, it takes forever to update my daughters location. While she’s at school, it kills the battery searching for a signal, I’m assuming. Even though she charges it every night, it’s dead before she gets home from school. On the weekends, it’ll last more than a day. It takes 10 to 20 minutes to update her location when she’s driving down the road with someone else and I wanna know where she is. The live track takes forever to start tracking as well. And it’s not very live. It just picks her up every 30 seconds to minute. Instead of the usual hour that it checks in. It’s annoying that I can’t listen to the audio messages through my Apple Watch. And that I can’t text her without opening their app. If I could go back, I would never have bought it. I recommend you figure out how to get your kid Apple Watch instead. Also, she looks about 4000 steps less now than she used to a day. I’m not sure if it’s this that’s missing steps or her old Watch gave her extra steps.

Great Device for Independence
on April 14, 2024

We got the bounce watch to give our 9 year old a way to communicate with us without having to consider a cell phone. The interface on the device is very easy and intuitive. The app on my phone is easy to use as well.
My child doesn't need to be rewarded for being active with points for a game. Plus, I don't like the idea of having to hand over my device as a reward. But this isn't a deal breaker- it's just a function of the watch that we don't use.
The auto alerts when the child enters or leaves a location work well if service is good. I was concerned the first day it was worn to school and it said they left and went 4 miles away- the cell service is bad in the school.
Texting from both in the parent app and on the device works well. The ability for the child to push their location or for the parent to live track from the app is very nice.
Overall, we gave been using the watch for about a month and really enjoy it. It will help our family extend the time before we get them a cell phone and give them a level of independence to play.
I look forward to see how this tech improves in newer versions but this is definatley a great innovation.

Peace of Mind for Parents

We bought this for our 10 y/o son after moving to a new neighborhood. With so many kids his age playing outside, we wanted him to have freedom to explore and play with his friends but still check in with us. This could not have been easier to set up and link to our existing Garmin accounts. I was able to quickly set boundary perimeters for notifications, reminder alarms, and start using the voice and text messaging through the app. I have told so many families about this because it’s a great product! If you’re looking for a way to give your kids freedom to play and check in without the need for an expensive phone or phone/watch combo, this is it. Let kids be kids for as long as possible and hold off on giving them cell phones. The Garmin Bounce was exactly what we needed.
