I will start this review by stating that I have been a shokz user since they were aftershokz. So I have had hundreds, if not thousands of hours of listening time with multiple pairs of them. The openrun pro shokz 2.0 certainly boast a large improvement in sound quality over the previous generation. I also love the orange color on the limited-edition model that I have. Using the buttons to operate them has been easier than I have experienced on previous models which I greatly appreciate. I was never able to reliably navigate tracks forward and backward on my previous headphones, but these seem to perform much more nicely. My only complaint about the new headphones (and I understand the reason for the change) is that they aren't using the magnetic charger. I really liked it, but proprietary chargers are about to disappear..... That aside, they added a little flap to cover the USB-C charging port. And whoever added the tab in the corner of the headphone must've had tiny hands or long fingernails. It's so hard to open, and I like that it fits securely, but put the hinge in the corner and the tab in the accessible part of the headphone! This thing makes me frustrated every time I go to plug in my headphones! For this reason alone, I will dock the 5th star. Good product, needs ergo refinement.
Will not read text messages as they come in. This is a big let down for me especially if I am doing a 15-20 mile run. I will have to stop my run pull out my phone and check to see if I have gotten any texts. Other than that the headphones work great
I bought the mini first. Loved it. Then bought this one for my wife. She loved it too. Many reviewers complained that at top volume the sound is a bit distorted. True. But since we don’t need it a top volume, it’s really just perfect for us. And we both dislike plugging things into our ears. So the open ear design is great.
It really is uncanny. I enjoy hiking and running but I still want to be able to hear what is around me. The OpenRun Pro 2 headphones allow me to do that. Hiking or running or biking, it doesn't matter. I'm able to keep them on and hear what I need to hear. I live in a cold climate as well and I can still have a beanie and glasses on and it still works alright.
Sounds great and the bass is better than previous models, however the reliance now on non bone conduction speakers makes their usefulness to people doing loud tasks with ear plugs in distinctly lower than the previous model. USB c charging is a nice touch to minimize the number of chargers but I generally charged in the car while driving and it isn’t easier to hook them up
