Good In Concept, Poor In Execution (wrong lens)

Several months ago, I bought this camera as it is one of the smallest models on the market from a reputable brand that does 4K60.
The good: it will do 4K60, and noise can be minimized when playing around with some color profile settings.
The bad: the lens on this camera appears to be entirely the wrong thing for the job. This is also an issue I noticed on my HC-X2000, it remains unchanged here (and I mean, this issue is IDENTICAL between the two models I have to hand). I thought at first that the sensor was trying to do something similar to the pixel shift that was allegedly performed by very old HD models (like the HVX200), but I have since managed to test and confirm that the problem is the lens (fine details like hairs and wood grain structure in a wood door) appear to bloom or explode when viewing through a 4K monitor or when playing back recorded footage on a 4K monitor. Noise performance is also rather disappointing compared against other camcorders which do 4K and have a ~1/2-1/3 inch sensor (though, to be fair, none of these can do 4K60, but the image is endlessly more usable because they all appear to have the correct lens on them).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there! Thank you for the detailed feedback. We’re glad the compact design and 4K60 capability work well, but we’re sorry the lens performance and fine-detail rendering on a 4K display didn’t meet expectations. We appreciate the specific examples and will share them with our product team for future improvements.
