I bought this grill to replace an old Cuisinart grill I bought back in 2009 because Cuisinart makes an excellent grill. I like this grill as much as the other one. I did find that the directions could be a little clearer on a couple of things. I was able to figure things out without much problem. The grill works great. I like the fact that you can select the type of meat you are cooking and that there is a timer right on the grill.
Supposed to open up flat but doesn't quite, so pancakes creep around. Lever to open it up so it can lie "flat" is very sticky. Doesn't cook evenly on one half. Expensive. But other than that it's OK.
This was a Christmas gift to replace an aging Cuisinart Griddler, and a after a few uses of both grill and griddle surfaces, not to mention a couple of full-press paninis, it's proven to be very even and consistent. Also consistent: to actually brown bread or pancakes, or get past rare to medium rare, or even add a sear, extra time and /or temperature must be added to the default settings. The consumer-ready settings on this appliance appear to have been programmed too cautiously. As far as ease of cleaning, though, this design is far superior to the earlier version. The central drain point is brilliant, as long as the grill is sitting on a large enough, even surface to tilt the plates correctly.
Third griddler is the best! Love the smokeless unit in our condo kitchen, no lingering odors. Original griddler and large elite unit were great too, but this little unit is the perfect size and easy to use. Sandwiches, steaks, salmon, veggies all cook perfectly and delicious. Love it!
