Two factors in favor of this product. First, it does not use quartz lamp technology. Instead it uses Calrod like the heating element in an electric oven. Pizza cheese dripping on quartz lamps degrades their performance and life and the screens that protect the lamps can catch more drippings causing smoke and setting off smoke detectors. And quartz lamps fail. I do not seeing myself replacing lamp bulbs in products that change with the season as they can become hard to find and expensive.
Second, it's the smallest new Calrod toaster oven I could find on the market. Counter space is limited in city apartments and condos and competing products I've seen have quartz lamps. Unfortunately Cuisinart has discontinued this product so my next one will likely be a used unit.
Although priced higher than it deserves because of the Cuisinart brand, it's the one I'm using.

Great purchase, We've had toaster ovens in the past, but nothing can compare to how wonderful this item works, the only complaint I can find, is the controls are not easy to see.
Also, be extra careful when taking items off of toaster rack!
