Good Concept - Convoluted Buttonology
on August 10, 2026
Posted by: T34CFI
- Used in VFR flight twice. Buttonology not intuitive. Some features are swiping and other are buttons.
-- I fly helos - inflight I tried to reset the Direct To. Probably operator error but had to go back and retrace steps. No, I'm not using as primary navigation.
-- Given the limitations of a watch, this may be as good as it gets. At this point questioning the practicality.
- Manual does not reflect watch features. I've tried editing, and difficult to maneuver.
-- Manual should show what the watch looks like when moving through pages. A tutorial with scenarios accompanied by photos would be helpful.
- Just now, watch face says raining at my nearest airport, when I touch the face and it goes to the airport, it says basically CAVU. This potentially dangerous. Sure, I'd go deeper in the weather if I were to go flying. But just looking at the watchface, it gives a wrong impression - could have consequences. Garmin may indeed have placed several disclaimers, but that's not how real people use a device.
- Would be nice if the watch can be customized from the app....
- For the price point
-- Charging cable is very short.
-- Watch band - feels flimsy
Interface
- Connect, ConnectIQ, Garmin Fly, inReach?
-- Gets confusing and a la carte pricing.

Close, but needs a better analog watch face
on June 27, 2026

Overall this is a great watch. It has plenty of features for both aviation and fitness. The one criticism I have is that it needs a better analog watch face. The one provided is a left-over from the D2 Air x10 that displays one time zone both on the analog face and digitally. I’d like to see a GMT style watch face displaying two time zones on the analog face with well placed, configurable, fields for data. Also, in always on mode, the sweep second hand should be displayed at all times. Frequently I find myself needing to quickly time something quick, say 10, 15, or 30 seconds, while my right hand is busy and my left is flying the plane. I’d like to be able to do so with a slight roll of my wrist, rather than the exaggerated movement necessary to activate the watch face when not in always on mode.

Great , needs better instructions

Great watch . However it needs a better instruction manual or a comprehensive video. Everything I am learning about the watch I am discovering myself.

Much better than the X10, great features
on December 18, 2025

Pros: Great OLED display, bright colors with nice features. Lots of excellent data and well represented. Comfortable and has the same capability of the X10 and then some. Much better BT support with phone. Love the built in flashlight. Lots of upgraded features including ECG.
Cons: Menus go deep, and take some getting use to. Altimeter awful, nothing but a chart or graph. No altimeter display as the X10. Can't change the font of the Garmin default display (or I can't figure out how to do it). Can never get the hourly forecasts to work. No weather radar based on location.
