The current unit I have in nickel/gold (which I was surprised when I opened the box as my original unit was while/gold) is a replacement unit after my first unit stopped working after about 1 yr of only nightly use (the air vents stopped opening upon powering on or would only open sometimes). This new unit however makes whistling/whirring noises while in operation. It’s not loud enough to disturb my sleep but it’s definitely there (something my first into did not do). The one thing I must commend is that they honor their commitment to replace the entire unit if something goes wrong w/in 2 yrs. This is why I’m not extremely upset by the units breaking/not working as they should.
Filled with water and it’s been 3 weeks and still have lots of water left. Almost seems not to be working.I was disappointed that it didn’t cover a larger area. It’s kind of too much for my bedroom so I have it on nite mode.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wanted a clean humidifier that was also a purifier and after less than 4 months a horrid buzzing noise happens when we use it. Sometimes it takes 5 mins to start other times it takes 5 seconds. Terrible for the money we paid.

I live in a dry desert climate and I love this fan/humidifier. It is so quiet and the cooling from it at night helps my sleep. This was purifier and the app are easy to set up and to use.
I initially had the PH01 for a year and a half that was excellent before it stopped humidifying, but Dyson sent me the PH04 as a replacement after a couple phone calls. While waiting for my replacement, I bought a cheaper humidifier and felt I was aspirating water in my sleep as you could see the droplets of water form an arc right onto my pillow. That's the reason I love the Dyson Humidifier, it's a fine mist that humidifies without trying to drown you in your sleep. If you want to keep it working, I've found 2 things helpful: 1) only use distilled water with NO added minerals (the minerals cause sediment to build up in any appliance, so I buy water specifically for use in small appliances at my local grocery store. if you use the same distilled water in say a tea kettle, you will notice the gunk with normal water never forms because there are NO minerals in the distilled water.) 2) When refilling, be extra careful with the tank cap and make sure NO water ever gets near the holes in the top as it will fry the circuitry in the cap if it does since one of them is ONLY for electricity (I do this by tilting the holes downwards slightly to make sure any water that may be in the humidifying holes escapes off the cap and not in the electrical hole, then I keep it upright away from where I am doing the filling until I am finished and ready to reassemble). If you do these things, it should last quite a while. It was also great during the wildfire smoke that migrated from Canada. I thought I was fine if I stayed indoors, but this air purifier detected the smoke that got into my house and ran nonstop for a couple days to get rid of it. This is the only humidifier that I will ever use from now on.
Doesn’t work as efficiently as a Coway (much less air changes per surface area). However it’s good for a small room and has great monitoring. The air quality sensors are very accurate and sensitive. It’s not that loud. Another plus is that it has no exposed moving parts. (Ex: a child can’t stick a toy or pencil anywhere that would result in breaking the device)
Only leaving 3 stars because it’s not an efficient air purifier which is one of its main purposes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
