Lacking structural integrity

1. Two of three filters had all or sections of both ends buckled inward up to one half inch. This resulted in the almost paper thin outer supporting grid to have weakening bends.2.Compared to my real Ultravation filter with 21 visible filtering folds these have 17.3.The Ultravation has progressive filtering while there are no markings, I can find, on these filters.4.So how does one straighten out a deformed and structurally weak fiter to fit the airhandler bracket preventing air flow of "dirty" air from flowing around the edges?5.The undamaged filter may work "ok"!6.Contrary to your literature implications these filters are not true replacements . Sort of like an insurance company replacing a Dusenberg with an Edsel.

Too loose

The quality of the filter is fine; however, cutting corners by making the size slightly smaller has resulted in making the filter too loose. I had to add a block to the edge so that the strong suction would not pull particles through the loose edge which would make the purpose of the filter useless. I shouldn't have to alter what I purchased to be the ideal fit. The cheap temporary filtrete filter I used fit like a glove. Can you correct this for me?

They seem to fit a little tighter than my previous filters, but that turns out to be my benefit; in the unorthodox way I'm using them. Using a thicker filter allows me to step-up the MERV rating without taxing the air-handler, so I was quite pleased that they would hold themselves in place without any modification to the filter holder that was meant to hold a 1" thick filter.
