Wife is overjoyed.

I was going to surprise my wife, but decided to check with her before I chose a color. She picked Pistachio, and was absolutely overjoyed when it came in. We debated between this and the original 4.5qt but the extra attachments (and 3 qt bowl) we got with the Artisan get used all the time, so I think it's worth it to upgrade. In particular, the flex edge beater is a winner that helps keep ingredients incorporated much more efficiently. Another concern was space under the cabinet, but it tilts up just shy of the 17.5 height clearance we have under our cabinets so we don't have to move it to use it.
Lots of people complain about the lack of the spring where the attachments connect, but if you look at the design, the spinning force keeps the attachment at the correct height. I've never seen it jump up under torque, so if you want to add a spring, feel free, but I don't think it's critical. I suppose it feels reassuring if you grew up with these mixers (I did), but you are paying for peace of mind more than function.
The biggest upgrade over the one I grew up with is the flex edge beater. I don't know how many times as a kid that I'd almost get a spatula stuck while I was trying to push down ingredients. I know you're supposed to stop it, but..... Anyhow, the flex edge beater addresses that for a large part.
I received this as a Christmas present from my husband and I literally have not purchased bread from the store since! I only make one loaf at a time and it handles it well, no more sore arms from mixing! Can’t wait to get some attachments for it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The mixer is beautiful, works perfectly but it's a pity that you have to buy the stainless steel parts a part from it. Also I ordered with an engraved message and never got it. That was a bit disappointed and it was a gift.
I'm thrilled about my new mixer! I love it. It works well and I can tell a huge difference in quality compared to the cheaper brand that I upgraded from. The only thing that concerns me is that when I'm making cookie dough, the top bounces around. Almost like the top isn't secure. I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that but the one I had before and videos I've seen of other kitchenaid mixer didn't do that. I bought the insurance just in case something happens. Other than that, I'm thrilled and I'm looking forward to many more delicious recipes!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this to replace my old one which I had for 13 years, due to the motor dying. It was a great run and I'm limited on storage space so I went with the same model but am wishing I had gone with a heartier version. Next one!
I love my new KitchenAid mixer. The color is so fun; I had the matching food processor and I got the matching tea kettle recently. I have the beater with the scraper on it and that really helps. It's also nice to have two bowls.
I have the 4 quart and would love to have the professional mixer. I have purchased each family member as they got married a Kitchen-aid mixer a Wonderful Present.
