A gift to last a lifetime

My moms mixer has been in the family for over 40years, and I asked my mom if she would get me one as I am starting my own family now. I have fond memories of licking off the mixer tools after making brownies and stealing cookie dough from the bowl when my mom wasn't watching.
My husband grew up in households that never had a kitchenaid and it was something special to teach him how to use it. I think he uses it now more than me.

Kudos and a couple of complaints from an old man.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this one to replace my other 15-year-old Artisan. I love the Kitchenaid mixers. I use it for baking, meal prep, bread, and shredding meat. I do not like the matte finish vs. the gloss smooth finish of my old one and am disappointed that it did not include the standard beater. My old beater fit and the texture of the new mixer does not affect its use. I am a 69-year-old male and if I live another 15 years, I will buy another Kitchenaid.

Chipped dough hook!

I recently bought this Artisan mixer & have really loved it so far. The only complaint I have is with the ceramic dough hook that was part of package. I use the dough hook once per week for the past four weeks since buying. After four uses I noticed the ceramic coating was chipped even though I have been very gentle. This complaint has been showing up for quite some time with other buyers so I feel that KitchenAid would have resolved by now.
Very disappointed in KitchenAid for not fixing this long standing problem.

Quality is No Longer Part of the KitchenAid Brand

What happened to the KitchenAid quality? I do a lot of baking and use my KA mixer every weekend. I have one that I bought a decade ago and decided to get a new one that matched my newly renovated kitchen. I purchased this mixer and my wife and I used both last night making a double batch of bread items. Wow - was I disappointed in the quality of the new vs. older mixer! The accessories are so cheap - light alloy we used to call "pot-metal" that undoubtedly will oxidize very quickly. The mixer is louder and feels cheap - not substantial like the older one. Sadly, whomever made the decision to substitute cheap metal and products in order to increase profits has really diminished the brand in my opinion. Prior to purchasing this mixer, I would have shouted from the rooftops to buy a KitchenAid mixer as it will hold up and still operate and look like new for decades! No more. This mixer looks and feels like something you'd find at a discount store. You messed up, KitchenAid. Your quality, the one thing you always had that put you above so many other manufacturers, is gone. What do you have left? Your name? For how long?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Waaaay too fast on speed 1

I decided to upgrade my 16 year old well loved KitchenAid mixer with this one. I was so excited, but that quickly turned to disappointment. The slowest speed is far too fast for almost everything. It made flour fly everywhere and tossed my pizza dough around like it was trying to kill it. I called customer service and the nice woman said this is how it’s supposed to be. I feel like the creators of this model have never baked a thing in their life and don’t know how important a slow stir is for certain things. I’m returning it and already replaced it with a 5.5 quart bowl lift model. I am happy with it so far.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
