Productivity through the roof!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded my desktop from a previous Samsung to this beautiful 40" Viewfinity and wish I had done so sooner. I am on my computer for so much time throughought the day and I feel like this monitor has made that experience so much better. I use my compuer to go over blueprints and I am now able to have three screens open at the same time. Thats a game changer! If I play games now I feel like I am imersed in the game with the curved feature. I was able to declutter my desk by removing the wired speakers since this monitor has them built in! best upgrade ever!

Went From Two Monitors to This One and Not Looking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So a little background, I’ve been running two 27 inch monitors side by side for years and always hated that stupid bezel line right in the middle of everything. Finally talked myself into trying one big ultrawide instead and honestly I should’ve done it way sooner. First thing, this thing is huge. Like measure your desk first, I’m serious, I almost didn’t have the depth for it and had to shove my desk out from the wall a few inches. But once it was set up and I dragged my first spreadsheet across that whole 40 inches of screen I was sold. The 5K2K resolution is no joke, text is crisp everywhere even at the far edges, and I can fit a full spreadsheet, my email, and a browser window all next to each other without anything overlapping. No bezel cutting through the middle of my work anymore, which sounds like a small thing until you’ve lived with it for years and then suddenly its gone. The curve seemed gimmicky to me before I owned one but at this width it actually matters, the edges angle in toward you so you’re not craning your neck to read stuff in the corners. Matte screen was another pleasant surprise, my office window used to throw glare across my old glossy monitors every afternoon and that problem is just gone now. The 144Hz refresh I mostly got for occasional evening gaming and it delivers there, smooth with no tearing with the FreeSync doing its thing, but weirdly the place I notice it most is just scrolling documents and moving windows around during the workday, everything glides. The Thunderbolt connection cleaned up my whole desk situation, one cable to my laptop handles the display AND charges it at full power, so my laptop charger stays in my bag now permanently. Oh and the KVM switch, didn’t even know I needed this. My work laptop and personal desktop both connect and I flip between them with one keyboard and mouse, or throw them up side by side when I’m comparing something. Couple gripes to keep it honest. You need a decent graphics card to push this many pixels, my older desktop struggles a bit with it. Built in speakers are tinny like every monitor ever made, use your own. And the box it ships in barely fit in my car, plan accordingly lol. But yeah, if you’re on the fence about ditching dual monitors for one big one, this is the one that convinced me. No regrets whatsoever.

Good display but riddled with firmware problems

The monitor's display, curve and size is great, I'm impressed with the build quality. The problem immediately comes when I try to hook it up to my M5 Macbook. It will not stay connected with the USB-C Thunderbolt 5 cable for longer than 30s, the screen will go black and I have to re-select the input manually. It's extremely frustrating and limits a huge featureset of the monitor. I'm able to work around this by using the HDMI cable, but this leads to a different problem where if I try connecting just the USB-C cable for KVM-access - it disables my WiFI (I guess tries to use the onboard LAN?) I've tried changing the USB-C source in the OSD settings to no avail. So basically I'm left with just a dumb widescreen monitor and there's cheaper ones around for that zero-functionality.
Overall I'm disappointed in this monitor. I really hope Samsung releases a firmware update to fix the problems soon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
