*knock on wood* I haven't had to use it this winter. This was purchased to run most of the normal house appliances if power goes out. Super quick and easy assembly.
I purchased this unit to run my house when needed. Out of the box easy to assemble and the unit fired right up. We live in Ohio and it's currently 20 out and it still fired up using the key fob . On a test run of 1 hr this united powered above and beyond what we needed to run in our home.
When researching generators there were a handful that kept showing up on the best of lists (CNet, Popular Mechanics, etc.) and the Westinghouse was one of them. What drew me to this product were the comments related to ease of set up and use. After having the unit delivered, and the electrician installing a 30 amp outlet, I can completely agree with everyone else. From the moment that the unit was unpackaged to when myself and the electrician tested the system, everything was clearly labeled, intuitive, and made a first time generator owner feel much more comfortable. The only way I could describe it is seamless. Three switch flips on the generator, two in my house, and everything was powered up.
I wanted to wait until I had several hours of use to write a review and I'm at approx 40 hours now with many of those coming from almost continuous use during a storm in October 2021 where we had no power for 5 days. I had the generator hooked up to a 10 circuit reliance transfer switch I had installed months prior. I have essentials like heat, fridge, lighting and the biggest load of all - my 80 gallon hot water heater. You can definitely tell when the heating elements kick on but the generator handles it no problem. After the 25 hour initial run time I changed the oil with Mobil 1 synthetic as I do in all my generators and small equipment so I expect it to last a long time. The push button start is great as my last generator was pull start only. The remote start key FOB is a nice feature but I've hardly used it.
