Purchased the WGen5300V portable generator for household electrical power backup as I live on the Gulf Coast which is subject to periodic hurricanes. The unit started on the first pull and noise level was very acceptable. The 5300-6600 Watts of power will supply a significant portion of my household needs in the event of an outage.
Followed directions as usual, just added a little gas to make sure it would start, tried electric first, nothing, tried it again nothing, silence, then I pulled the starter route and it started to crumble then upon further pulling it just came all the way out no retraction or pull back at all. This is a well constructed generator. I was not really sure about it at first but once I took it out of the box I was well pleased. I like the option of using gas or propane it allows me to have more fuel and I don't have to keep a bunch of gasoline cans. Also it has a digital gauge to monitor voltage and hertz, and three option plugs(L14 -30R, TT-30R, 5-20R). Finally the ability to move it with the fold down handle and wheels make it easy for anyone to handle it.
Bought the 4000.. first time out froze up as we are camping.. Bought the 4375 ..had issues. Tiny sound. Bought the 6875. Too heavy..gas hog and way loud at 25 ft. Thru a breaker not at the generator but in the camper panel box. They went back! Purchased the Westinghouse. Amazed..quiet...energy efficient..weight easy to lift. Handles the camper very well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Brought this item several weeks ago. Came well packaged and included everything needed to be up and running in a few easy steps. Started right up and worked the way it was supposed to.
The 5300V replaces a 25 year old Generac 4000XL. The extra power will help energize an additional circuit on my transfer switch. A little difficult adding oil with the supplied hose, best to use a fluid pump. Initially started and ran rough, but determined it just needed at "least" a gallon of gas to smooth out. The meter provides voltage, frequency and hours. These are important to ensure proper maintenance. Needed to buy a meter to determine the old generator was out of spec for frequency. The first tell was flickering incandescent bulbs. Very satisfied with the build quality, all nuts and bolts tight. Removing the ground jumper was also very easy. Overall, I would recommend this generator, specially at the price.
