This generator has great features and easy to operate, we bought the generator in January and used it in February when the Power went out the the house. We hooked it up to the RV it ran very quiet and very economical. I’m thinking about buying another Westinghouse generator for my shop.
I bought iGen4500 this month and I am happy about it. It is very easy to start, low noise, stable electricity. I would recommend this to our friends about this product.
We haven't had a chance to actually put it to use for an extended period. However, we have cranked it and used it to run our living quarters horse trailer for a bit. It works perfectly and is really quiet! Who needs to pay waaaay more for a H***a when you can have a Westinghouse for a whole lot less. It serves the same purpose! Love it! And we have already recommended to someone else we know wanting to purchase one!
Received before expected date. Easy set up out of box. Had none of the problems that I have read about. Have only ran it a couple hours but ran refer off 120v turned on A/C and ran 900 watt micro wave and generator preformed flawlessly. Extremely happy at this time.
I ordered this unit because it has electric start, and my wife struggles to pull start our existing generator. If a situation ever arose where I was out of town and she needed emergency power, she could be stuck in the dark. I bought this and unpacked it today, and I'm pleased to report that it started up on the first button push after following the quick start guide. The form factor matches some features of my old unit, like the rear wheels and extendable handle which are features that I feel are a must have if you intend for your significant other to use this on their own. It is quite easy to pull around, and while I can lift this solo I wouldn't recommend it as it is over 90 lbs.
While it is still too early to tell how reliable it is I have run it for 1 hour so far, and I intend to use it heavily over the next week to really make sure I can trust it during a major storm. I can say that I put a half gallon of gas in it, and let it idle about 15 minutes, then ran it with a toaster oven (1500W) attached. After 30 minutes it had shut down.
There was still some gas in the tank so I started it back up and it ran briefly before sputtering and shutting off. I put another half gallon of gas in and it ran perfectly fine for another 15 minutes, and at that point it had run for an hour so I shut it down manually.
I had put in exactly 1 gal of fuel in, so I added exactly 2.5 gal more and was surprised it was exactly at the full tank line, which means I had put in exactly 3.5 gallons of gas, and it has a listed capacity of 3.4 gallons. If my math is correct that means in my 1 hour of run time I burned 0.1 gallons of gas. I honestly think it burned more than that, and perhaps the tank size is smaller than listed, but overall I'm not concerned about tank size as you can shut down and refuel anytime.
One thing to note is that the included paper manual was out of date, even though my unit shows it to be manufactured in 2020. The online manual matches the control panel layout more closely and the oil fill directions make more sense so I printed a copy of that to replace the included version. One other thing to note is the recommended oil changes after the initial break in are every 50 hours. Because of this I plan to make sure I have oil on hand to do a change during a storm event. It would be really easy to have a power outage that lasts long enough to exceed the 50 hour runtime between changes. My old unit had an interval of 100 hours between changes, but honestly as long as this generator starts and runs that is not something I care about. My priority is making sure my wife has power if I'm not at the house.
If you want a generator with a good form factor, quiet engine, and easy electric starting this unit is a great one to pick up.
This generator is probably one of, if not, the quietest, easy starting, and most powerful portable units money can buy. It is easy to move around with the telescoping handle and wheels and not too heavy to put on the RV rack. Could not be happier!
I just received the generator and its looks solid with all the features I would need. I primarily want to use this as back up power for a few things in the house. Will update this review once I have used it.
