Just purchased the iGen4500DF after much consideration. Will be used for boondocking with a 30amp travel trailer and also for replacing an older emergency backup generator for my home. It’s a bit heavy for lifting into the back of my truck, so I’ll need to figure out a way to transport/move it, but I purchased this one because it will handle both of the purposes I intend to use it for. I connected it to my travel trailer and ran it on propane for two hours, varying the load with a/c, refrigerator and lights as a break in run. The only things I’ve seen so far that I would prefer to be different are (1) a better way of draining the engine oil, and (2) a toggle style main circuit breaker to allow connecting or disconnecting the plugs with the unit running and no power output to the receptacles.

WORKMANSHIP AND FUNCTION

I bought this in 2021 tried it out for about 2 hours, worked great. After 1 year sitting tried it out and started right up, no problem ran for 2 hours for RV AC and few more hours for other things, worked great. This year tried to start n hard to start ran ruff then settled. Ran RV AC a few hours, then turned off. following week tried to start n WONT START!!! Only 15 Hours on it. Not Happy!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our inverter generators utilize a carburetor to control the amount of air and fuel the engine receives at one given time. When the carburetor sits for a while after being used, the fuel that is leftover will start to gum up the intake. This causes the inverter to have issues starting as the engine can't receive fuel. It took minimal time to unpack and set up using the quick start guide. Opening to oil dipstick is a tight fit but manageable. Started first try with electric starter during first start test. By coincidence I had a home power outage that night and was able to test generator function immediately in 85 degree weather. Rested comfortably on my couch running a fan to cool me and light powered by my generator for 1 and 1/2 hours without any issues. Noise generated by generator was slightly above normal conversation level. All in all very pleased with the ease of set up, ease to start, and first try normal functioning.
