Excellent value. Wanted the propane option and it performs very well . Used with a jack hammer out of box and no issues. Easy push button start. Hope to get many years use.
Moved to north coast Massachusetts. Big nor'easter took out power for a couple days. It was a "Heads Up" to be prepared. Being able to run boiler & pumps of our heating system is essential if this happens in winter.
Studied needs of boiler/pumps & refrigerator, ie. the essentials. 3.5kW is more than enough. Looked over makes/models, availability and price. For back up power, there is no certainty if/when it will be needed, so this is not a go-overboard investment. Just survival and home protection.
What I liked about WGen3600DF: The remote could be real handy, particularly if I put the generator by the shed way out back. Dual fuel a must: I will prefer propane over gas- much less to think about in readiness, maintenance & storage if I go with propane.
What concerned me: The manual is not very straight forward compared to other brands. Some of the maintenance gets into "are you a professional mechanic?" (no). Also the detail steps to start and stop are hands-on, yet the convenient FOB clearly is not. Is that a problem? Oil filling had to be done carefully, and I found out it gobbles up about a full quart.
Hands on: I ran it up first time today. It worked well. The FOB was pre-paired and operated the generator easily from 40 yards. The generator won my confidence it is ready to step in when we need it. Lucky timing... Electrician is coming this week to overhaul house electrical panel. Good opportunity to wire in a couple extension cord style transfer switches for furnace & refrigerator circuits.
When time comes I need this, I don't want to sort thru the manual. So I made a one-page cheat sheet covering Anticipating Use, Start up, Intermittent start & stop (by FOB), Formal shut down. Tie wrapped that to the generator.
Great value for the price, versatile features and built like a tank. I filled the tank (with stabilized fuel), added oil, opened the fuel valve and it started up in an instant. All outputs tested good. Ready for the next Snownado.
GOOD VARIETY OF OIUTLETS, 30 AMP RV X2 AND 120V OUTLETS. INSTRUCTION BOOKLET WAS COMPLETE AND INCLUDED TOOLS TO PREPARE THE GENERATOR FOR USE. STARTED EASY AND WORKED GREAT. GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE.
So easy to set up started right up. No more fear of no power this has ran great so far and with proper maintenance I hope it continues to do so. The push start makes it so easy when I hurt my back and couldn’t pull start anything it was truly a life saver
