Looks Easy to Use- Mine Wouldn't Start Out of Box

Based on the multiple YouTube videos I watched, the Westinghouse iGen2550DFc appears to be a very easy generator to set up and operate. Unfortunately, my experience has been very different.
I have not been able to get my new generator to crank or start out of the box. I've tried on five separate occasions, eventually giving up each time and trying again the following week. I've followed the owner's manual instructions to a "T," watched numerous YouTube startup videos, and tried every reasonable troubleshooting suggestion I could find online.
I've used both a fresh tank of propane and a fresh gallon of gasoline, with no success.
At this point, I plan to take it to a repair shop to see if they can determine whether there is a mechanical or electrical issue with the unit. I will update this review if I'm able to determine the cause.
My biggest recommendation to anyone purchasing this generator—is buy it well before you anticipate needing it, like ahead of hurricane season or the winter months. Do not assume that a brand-new generator will work simply because it's new (ha, I did!). Take the time to assemble it, test it, and make sure it starts and operates properly while you still have time to address any problems.
A generator is something you purchase because you expect to be able to depend on it when the power goes out. Unfortunately, I haven't reached that level of confidence with this one yet.

Quiet and Powerful

It has a very quiet run (noise) compared to our other generators. Portable and easy to use. Power is good! We used this during camping at the beach and slept peacefully next to it (it was outside our tent). A good buy and highly recommend.

Great lightweight, quiet generator w/many features

I just bought this and it starts and runs great on both gasoline and propane. I’m looking forward to years of use from this generator. I’m happy that it has the 30amp 220 volt plugin. I may purchase another someday to run two units in parallel for additional power.

I finally was able to find some time to set my new iGen2550DFc inverter up today. Very easy set up. The exact quantity of oil was provided and the provided funnel made filling a breeze. I did not try on gasoline, as my intentions are to only run on propane using my camper cylinders. The regulator assembled easy. It was a little hard to start, but I'm sure there was air in the line. If you follow the starting procedure exactly as written, it seems to fire right up. I turned everything on in my camper, (except the A/C which draws more power than the unit puts out) and it handled the load no problem. I even added a 1200 watt heat gun to it while powering the camper, and it seemed to have power to spare. Zero hesitation in power. So far it seems like it's going to be a good unit. These days it's not often you get a product that is easy to set up and performs as it should.
