iGen4500 - Great Product!

My wife purchased the Westinghouse iGen4500 for me as a Christmas gift. I found the manual to be very comprehensive regarding setting up, operating, and maintaining the generator. The engineering and design of the generator are impressive. Access to critical maintenance areas is easy and convenient. The push button electric start and remote start features are game changers. This unit is replacing two Yamaha 1600 watt generators we use for RV camping. Although the wet weight of the iGen4500 is over 100lbs, its roller-board style wheel system makes it easy to move the generator on the ground. With moderate effort, my wife and I together can lift the generator in and out of the bed of my truck. I would recommend this generator for those that need up to 3700 running watts in a single generator.

There's a lot I like about this generator but..

If I wasn't having some issues it would be 5 stars.. I will edit the review up or down once I get to the bottom of it. Issues are as follows: one of the bolts is stripped out, the head is stripped and the threads.. The main problem is the fact that after I performed the 5 hour break in run, I performed the long term maintenance protocol and found the spark plug terribly fouled and there is black gunk buildup inside the chamber (thru the spark plug port). I used brand new non-ethanol gas and ran it less than 1850 watts just like the manual states. I am posting on forums and trying to get to the bottom of it... I am hoping to get a generator cover as well.

Easy set up out of the box. After adding fluids & connecting battery, started right up. Runs very quiet. Love that it has remote start

Super Quiet and Dependable

I bought the iGen 4500 for camping and for the ocassional power outage. I live in the high desert region along the San Gabriel Mt range in California, so, I purchased the high altitude kit for 3000-6000 ft. Westinghouse has an excellent tutorial video that leads you through the process step-by-step to swap
out the carburetor jet. FYI, I labeled sandwich bags with each step, which helped in not mixing up hardware and reassembling the panels.

We finally got to use the iGen 4500 on a camping trip last week, and I can't be more pleased with its performance and at how quiet it is. It started right up, but I especially love the remote control. A friend in our group was so impressed with it that he said he's looking for a smaller, easier to move generator and decided to purchase the dual fuel model.
I would recommend this to a friend!
