Awesome generator

My initial impression is that the iGen4500 generator is exactly what I was looking for to power my trailer. Started first pull and extremely quiet. I also love the remote start.

Wiring repair needed upon receipt, now works
on July 1, 2020

The unit would not stay running upon receipt unless the fuel shutoff was nearly closed. Contacted the technical support line and created a case. However while waiting for a tech to call back, I found a service bulletin online for re-attaching a wiring harness that comes loose during shipment. Once I completed the repair, unit seems to work great. Sounds like this connector needs to be redesigned so it doesn't come loose.

Good Generator (inverter), scary unpacking!

Noise level, as advertised. Good power. Heavy, but not that heavy. Happy so far! However...unpacking was a real scare! The box came slightly damaged, delivered by UPS, one strap missing, few small holes....however the original tape was intact. Upon opening I noticed a "old fuel, type smell". My mind began to race to the small number of reviews that mentioned "used", or "returned" products! I opened the fuel cap, and ugh! what a smell. I carefully removed the strainer, and looked in. Damp, but no real amount of anything. I thought of removing the float bowl, but told myself, maybe it was some kind of protective substance...Snatching the unit out of the box was surprisingly easy (heavy yes, lift carefully!) I am 66 years old, but the top handles really made this easier! I lifted the unit out of the box instead of cutting it out, because I wanted to make sure I could return the unit if necessary "in its original packaging". Now the real scare....the fuel shut off knob was missing! A quick look showed it had ended up in the bottom of the box. Fortunately I have handled a phillips head before, carefully removed the rubber cap at center of the knob, and installed correctly. Worried, I looked over the unit for signs of use, and found none...however the battery was not strapped inland riding at 45 degrees. Good thing it is "no leak". I went over everything I could with a stout phillips, checked the air filter, and then proceeded to add oil. There was a small amount of oil laying in the bottom cover, but it was clean. The telescoping handle works, but seems a beat flimsy. I made a mental note to use that feature sparingly if at all! After adding two liters of "non-ethanol canned fuel" the fuel gauge still registered "empty". The third on got the unit to register 1/4. After 3 pulls on the starter rope, it came to life! Really easy, and smooth pull start. I think anyone could handle this! Not my fathers Gravely L8 for sure! Or any of my push mowers! She started right up....but ran unevenly for almost 60 seconds. Finally it settled down. Finding the started FOB, attached to the pull start, with battery installed, was worriesome....but it lit up! The remote started worded wonderfully! I had my girlfriend use it, so now she can brag "she started it"! Now let's hope I don't have to use it.....being a follower of the philosopher "Murphy" ......

Disappointing

From the beginning. As per Instructions I "pour the entire bottle of oil into the engine" and a couple of ounces overflow on the floor. No problem, just some oil. I drained down to correct level. Fast forward to engine start.. It will not stay running. An hour and a half later I've taken all 4 sides off of the unit. Found 2 motor mount bolts about to fall out, checked entire fuel system to find varnished fuel in the float bowl, and the main jet in the carburetor was pluged. making the unit only run with the choke on. After cleaning the carb, tightening bolts and reassembling everything It runs fine. Hooked up to the camper for a couple hrs. with lights, A/C, and Microwave running... All was good.
However, I need to have the Illuminated Power switch on the Control Panel in the "ON" position to have the unit work with the Key Fob Remote. The Instruction book only mentions that Switch if you pull start with the rope, or use the start button on the panel. Maybe I need to look inside for something unplugged.
Bottom line, when you get it running it performs quietly. But, the folks on the assembly line need to step up thier game.
