Solid Invertor Generator

After owning a Westinghouse WGen9500DF and a IGen2500 and being very happy with them both, I decided to upgrade to the IGen11000DFc. Upgrade was for the quiet nature of the IGen and the lower THD which pairs nicely with my computer and internet battery backups. So far I've done the 5 hr break in and then did a whole house test including AC. Worked like a champ, looking forward to many years of use.

Easy to operate!

Using this as a portable home back up generator. Easy to run. Running it on propane, but have gasoline back up if the propane gets consumed. Controls are easy. I used to use a 4400 watt conventional generator. Starts readily.
Have a 50 amp input circuit breaker with main breaker lockout slide - I'm not running my dryer, oven, or range, but I can run central AC (new 4 ton unit, variable speed, easy start up), fridge/freezer, and microwave. Plus TV, stereo, things to avoid the misery index...
The generator says it'll hold just over a quart of oil, but be careful of overfilling. Make sure you have the generator on a level surface and I'm starting with about half a quart, letting the level equilibrate, then re-checking, adding in small increments until I get a level in the mid-range.
Have only had 3 weeks and done break in - tropical storm in gulf now, will update as I use it more.

The good and the bad
on September 8, 2024

The Good:
(1) Generator shipped in reasonable time.
(2) Easy to set up as all tools are included, even the engine oil.
(3) Works as expected ( when stating with button ) and Noise level very reasonable.
The Bad:
I wanted to try starting manually too. The recoil handle broke off and detached from the wire. The wire simply retracted into the generator and cannot be found.

Worth the Wait!

After another hurricane and another extended power outage we knew that it was time to upgrade our existing generator. After a lot of research and customer satisfaction we decided on the iGen11000DFc. It seemed that a lot of people had come to the conclusion at that same time because the unit became out of stock. After waiting for about a month with daily checks it became available and we placed our order.
After picking the unit up I got it home and began the unboxing and assembly. Everything was packaged very well and every tool that you need for assembly is included. The instructions are clearly written, easy to understand and complete assembly took no more than 10 minutes. When filling the oil (which is included) you will need a funnel. This surprised me since EVERYTHING else that you need is included but this is a minor thing.
After assembly I rolled it into position (it rolls very well), attached the propane and fired it up. It is so much quieter than what we have become accustomed to - and now with it being an inverter I have no qualms with letting it run all night to keep up with a diminished power demand.
I am not looking forward to losing power again but a part of me is looking forward to putting this iGen11000DFc to work when it does.

Haven't fueled it up yet, but it arrived in excellent packaging and assembly was easy. Was surprised to see that Westinghouse even supplied tools.
Living on the gulf coast, and just entering prime hurricane season, I am sure it won't be long before it gets to pay for itself.
It's a very fine looking piece of equipment! Based on that and the excellent packaging it was shipped in, I have to give it five stars.
