Samsung Galaxy A17 Update

This is an update to my review a couple of days ago. I got to use my new Samsung Fast Charger and my phone went from 20% to 97% in about 50 minutes. I'm quite happy with that! I almost have the phone set up and configured the way I like it. The one thing I don't like is, there is no way to do a local backup to USB. I'm still looking for an app that will do this for me. I installed over 500 MP3's and over 500 photos from a flash drive and neither one took very long, considering the phone specs!
I managed to find quite a few wallpapers and themes. Of course all of these in the galaxy store are lumped together - the "paid" and the free. It took a long time, but I managed to download dozens of good ones - even some free animated ones for the home screen. I'm using one of them now and it doesn't seem to have any effect on battery life. I did download a few (inadvertently) that had advertising all over the place! I simply uninstalled those and that leaves me with the ones that only do what I expect them to do - cleanly. I'm still spending a lot of time digging into the layers and layers of customization and settings. I downloaded a couple of phone apps through Fdroid, because I don't want google to have control of it. I'm sure that they won't have any trouble accessing that data anyway! All in all, I have to say that this "inexpensive" phone is a keeper!
BTW; take it from someone who loves storage and has dozens of terabytes on each of my desktop computers and 4TB SSD's in both of my laptops...After loading most of the apps I will be using, plus the hundreds of songs and photos...I still have almost 100GB's left internally and almost 400GB's left on the SD card. That SD card slot was a main consideration in choosing this phone over a more expensive model. I made the right decision!
P.S I wasn't going to give it full points for "Ease of use"; but now that I know my way around, it's now getting 100%.

I bought this phone two days ago and so far. I hate the control that these technocrats have over our lives; and our "SMART" devices. All that nonsense aside...for the price I paid for this phone, for me at least, it was well worth it. I'm still trying to set things up, with the least "invasion of privacy". I have to find some "free" themes and wallpapers. I refuse to pay for those. Setting all of the various "permissions" is taking a long time. Basically, I have all my contacts in there - finally. I find that navigating is quite fast. Considering that this phone only has 4GB's of RAM, I don't find it slow at all. I won't be playing any games...basically the phone, messaging/texts, photos and some music. File operations are very fast! I copied more than 40 MP3 files from a flash drive to the internal SD card in around 3 seconds. I'm actually impressed! The phone just warned me about a music app that was using a lot of resources while it wasn't running and it fixed it. The system seems very intuitive. Of course, there's a lot that I haven't experimented with yet; although overall, the phone is doing what I need it to do. I keep checking the battery remaining and it's down to 44% after 2 days of playing around with it. I bought a Samsung FAST charger and I'm itching to try it out. According to my research, the phone should be fully charged within an hour or less. I may be back with that info. The phone doesn't come with a charger and the charger didn't come with a cable...welcome to 2026! That's okay...unless you plan on playing games all day, or watching videos all day, this phone should do everything you need it to do. Even with the added cost of the charger and a solid case; as a mid-range phone, I highly recommend this one! If you need lots of power, storage and RAM, you're going to have to pay a lot more. If your needs are simple, this is a great choice. I chose this over a model that cost about $125 more. That other model has better specs; mainly 120Mhz screen compared to my 90 and 6GB's RAM compared to my 4. They both have 128GB storage; but mine also has an SD slot for additional storage. I have a 512GB card in mine. I'm happy with my decision.

That day my wife and I came to change our plan to a better one. Manan and Philippe were very kind to us, offering the best plan for our mobile phones and even giving us a gift card. With this card, we actually bought a new phone for one of our sons. Thank you guys for your professionalism.

Functionality all good. Some concerns about battery life. Perhaps some apps that moved over from old phone are continuously working. Looking into putting some asleep.

After using this for a day you’ll notice that the response time for clicking and sliding action are a bit delayed and sometimes causes double clicks or multiple actions to get something done.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome Cell Phone. Midrange performance for a more affordable price. Great display, nice looking, decent cameras, good performance, a little more RAM from Samsung would have made it alot better.
