Oddly the on off button is flat not raised like the volume buttons. When you put a case on the phone to protect the phone from damage, the indentation is quite deep

Did not want or need top of the line phone although he did TRY to upset to a bigger and better model. Have had phone for awhile now and battery life seems good and still learning all the newer apps and features of this phone. This coming from a Samsung S7 (darn rights I needed a new phone!)
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm very computer savvy and a phone is basically a computer. I don't have my expensive phone anymore (long story); so I had to buy a new one and I wanted to spend as little as possible. I'm not a cellphone addict, so my needs are simple...make calls, send/receive texts, store my photos and music (including more than 500 that I have recorded over backing tracks with my modest home recording equipment)...I don't play games at all, so the lower specs don't bother me. This phone has a beautiful screen for the price. I even found some animated wall paper that I like and it doesn't seem to have any effect on the battery. The camera takes decent photos for me and the one thing that impressed me the most is, even though there's only 4GB RAM, it transfers files very fast - even to and from my 512GB SD card. The phone charges in about 50 minutes. I was considering both this one and the A35 and the only real difference I could see (besides the price) was that the A35 has 2 more gigs of RAM and the refresh rate is a bit faster. I found out after learning all about my phone that in addition to the 4GB RAM, it also uses part of the storage for an additional 4GB. The thing that really influenced my choice, is that the A17 has the SD slot and the A35 doesn't! Bottom Line: If you don't play a lot of games and don't multi-task all day, you might consider this phone. I don't notice any slowdowns at all. I close open apps regularly and I have a good battery app that keeps an eye on things for me. For me; this is a really good phone, at a really good price. The SD slot is a bonus!

Very poor model

This was my 2nd time to try out this Samsung A17 5G model and was so dissapointed with it! 1st off, the camera does NOT take 50MP and only does upto 30MP photos. 2nd, the phone became laggy in performance and just after 4 days, the UI 8 version kept giving me a wait message at every startup. I returned it and found that my other Samsung A13 5G did better in taking 50MP shots as well as its performance was better than this latest model. As for the little memory updates it did 5 versions upwards, didn't really surprise me much either. I wish that Samsung would have continued in providing people with A13 5G phones with the lates UI versions, as this just shows that Samsung is simply out to make money.

Under performance for latest A17 5G

This was the 2nd time I tried the A17 5G and found it to under perform in several ways for the camera that did NOT do a full 50 MegaPixel as advertised and also saving the pictures in 50mp mode took over 2-3 seconds in saving pictures, and only then would release the shutter button for the next shot to be taken! It really under performed my older A13 5G I've had for over 4yrs which would save INSTANTLY without waiting for the shutter to be used again, without any lag which my A13 5G did.
Secondly, after only 4 days, after starting the cellphone from shutdown, the OneUI ver 8 would stall at startup and kept giving me a msg to wait for it to start and would only start after pressing the power off button to get the phone to go on standby mode then would restart OneUi 8! Not acceptable. I will await to see by next year when the A18 5G will come out and try and test this out then.
