It is a handsome-looking machine, but it is more basic than I was expecting. First of all, the three cut heights that are possible must be adjusted by removing the wheels and re-positioning them. I never would have purchased a machine without real-time height adjustment capability if that distinction were described clearly. I chose the middle opening initially, but I am prepared to raise the deck by inserting in the lowest hole all around. Second of all, the rear wheels do not sit proud enough with respect to the deck; so the handle presses hard against the right-rear wheel at almost all times unless you push hard upward while you mow. I seem to push downward naturally, so my wheels were dragging against the grass. I corrected the problem by inserting some spacers between the wheel and the deck; three washers fit and provided enough clearance. Now I can enjoy the work much more. You will notice that the oil dipstick seals with a rubber ring, rather than a thread; and I can imagine needing to replace this seal periodically, as oil is terrible on rubber. The most positive aspect is the ease of starting; three pumps and a pull are all that are necessary. The cut is clean, but I want a wider cut. Therefore, I am inclined to place this engine on a wider deck and gain better advantage of the 140+ horsepower.
I really like this lawnmower. It gives my yard a very clean cut, and it is also very powerful, yet easy to maneuver. Like mentioned by some previous reviewers, attaching the wheels took me more time than I expected. I would suggest having an extra set of hands available to help with this if you have that option. With just a little tweaking of their design I think the company can make this part of the assembly process much easier.
Mower is wonderful. It's very light weight and extremely easy to push. It's noticably less loud than other mowers. It has enough power to not even slow down on the toughest Texas grass, and having the side discharge shaped and attached the way it is makes mowing in tall grass and around obstacles very easy compared to past mowers. Also one tank of gas does almost my whole lawn and it's not small.
It is cheap.and doing its job. Did not have any problems putting it together and running. I am not very experienced and only used trimmers before. Push mower looks much better if you have even used surface.
