Nice blade, uncomfortable grip

The blade on this paring knife is well designed and works as expected, but I don't understand the handle. Why is the metal protruding from the end of this knife? Is there a special hanging rack this handle is designed for? The exposed metal probably isn't a problem with the larger knives, but with the paring knife's smaller handle, the corner of the protruding metal burrows into the heel of my hand and is very uncomfortable. When holding the knife with the blade pointed toward my thumb (paring position) as when peeling an apple, no problem. But if I want to then slice the apple, I have to turn the knife over and end up with the metal handle corner pressing into my hand. Of course, I could grab a slicing knife but that is often inefficient. I love the rest of my Shun knives but not this one.

so this knife is nothing short of elite. Such a great blade. Comfortable grip and very agile. Keeps an edge really nicely and takes to a steel better than any other paring knife I've used.
