There are some improvements from the first gen earbuds, but there are some disadvantages as well. For improvements there is the design of what hold it in your ear that i find is much better. The noise cancelling is also better. The negative is that the battery life is significantly less than the previous gen, i generally have to put it back in its case after about half my work day where as with the first gen they lasted my whole work shift without needing to be charged, however with the new ones i can use the left earbud independently.

Hi there, I'm pleased to hear you're a fan of the QC Earbuds II, especially the comfort and noise-canceling ability. We reached out to you with some help regarding the battery life problem you're having. To re-iterate, one full charge will provide 6 hours of uninterrupted streaming, with the charging case holding an extra 18 hours of juice. We'd recommend you try the steps at https://bose.life/3ri89mw to help, and reach back out to us or contact at https://bose.life/38Q1vZs to let us know how things go, so we can assist further if needed. Thanks, Sam - Customer Support
As expected from owning about 12-15 other Bose products, GREAT sound. One of the best Noise Cancellation features if not the best. Range is very solid. They will fit your ear type although it may take some matching up of ear plugs and back straps. Slightly better sound than the original QC’s. Better form and fit though. Smaller charging case with a little bit more battery life.
All that said, mine crapped out at the end of the first day. As I was walking out to my vehicle after using them in the office all day, the right earbud developed a bottoming out and a consistent hiss and static. Of course, being tech saavy, I researched the problem on and off the Bose support site. Nothing restored functionality. I called Bose Cust Service and they set me up for a return. Very personable and responsive. Malfunctions happen so don’t let that discourage you from this product. In fact, as previously mentioned, I’ve got a wide variety of Bose products.
Other negative is the inability to wirelessly charge this case as with the original QC’s. Shame on Bose for dropping the ball on that feature. Rating 3 out of 5 because of the malfunction and no wireless charging for the case.
I returned those to Bose via UPS. I re-bought the product from my local Target so if I have any more issues, it’s a quick swap. Something Bose CS can’t offer. They want you to wait for the return THEN they’ll ship you out a new pair. As part of the “I want it now” state of mind, that was unacceptable hence the local purchase.
I’d recommend these. Lastly, as with any new ear plug, your ears will experience slight fatigue and soreness from the new fitament. No issue there.

We own just about every Bose earphone and earbud on the market. I personally have extensively used the soundsport, the quietcomfort and now the quietcomfort II earbuds. The soundsport feels like it compromises the balanced sound for the sweat/water resistant feature. The quiet comfort gen 1 is balanced but struggles with the fit for smaller ear canals. The ability to use these daily for conference calls during the shut down was incredible, the company provided alternative was…. I am sure you can guess.
I saw the Gen II release and immediately ordered. I wish I had waited for the limited colors. The app has more features for balanced sound, the ear buds fit better with the new separate band and bud fit to accommodate smaller canals with larger ear openings. Overall, my complaints about Gen I have been addressed in GEN II.
I love the sound of the earbuds but I don’t like that you can’t use the left one for talking on the phone.
