Deadbolt locks that are easy to install

If you ever need to change your Deadbolt & key the Kwikset components are almost universal. This means that one can usually change out the cylinder and use all the old hardware and latch, the part that moves in & out. The Kwikset brand is especially handy for landlords that need to change locks quickly & often. Another bonus Kwikset give you is the fact that repair parts are often in stock at your local hardware, and the keys somehow duplicate easily & correctly. I can't tell you how many times I've had a key made for a different brand and it didn't work. Kwikset duplicate keys always work the first time for some reason. A little security tip; if you use a foot or so long piece of plumbers strap (metal tape w/holes) screwed along the wooden door frame (behind the molding) to reinforce the hole for the latch - it makes it very difficult to kick in the door. If you need keyed alike locks, the key codes are on the package. So you can match up as many keyed alike locks as needed.

Where are steps 8 through 11 for a 2 1/4 inch door!!! Not in the box, not on your website! if you do not include them - do not refer to them in your instructions!

I bought two new Smart key entry knobs with double cylinder dead bolts as a kit. Installation was simple and the smart key worked as advertised. Took about half hour to to complete both doors.

If you are looking for security do not choose this deadbolt. If you are using the smartkey, expect it to fail within a year. These locks are made from potmetal and meet the minimum grade of the ANSI standards. DO NOT BUY!!!

Trashing, hardest to install.

I bought a 4 set at Walmart. 2 deadbolts 2 door knobs. Keyed alike. No real idea what the part number is because there was nothing on package. It is a "deal" to buy 2 full door sets. Instructions tell you how to drill holes... They are already there!!! Internet and utube is how I learn all home repairs because I'm a middle aged woman. I repair entire toilets, garbage disposals, replace electrical outlets, etc.. Since there was no data on model... Utube found nothing. I don't know what these are I bought at Walmart but after 2 weeks of no security. Throwing in trash. I have never posted a comment before. I will not buy kwikset next time. I struggled too because last were Brinks are so easy but wanted to try. Terrible instructions, terrible part number identity... Throwing in trash. If I can repair my 1999 car, plumbing, electrical, install my own laminate flooring, etc using utube but can install these...
