Planned obsolescence?

When I purchased this tooth brush I immediately noticed that the feeling of quality was significantly worse than the Sonicare I had had for ~8yrs before (the battery finally wore out). It was much lighter and felt cheaper (the old version plastic was a glossier, higher quality finish).
After about 6-8 months the metal piece which the replaceable heads fit to started to become loose. Progressively over the past month or two it has now become unusable.
I am disappointed to see that Philips has been significantly downgrading the quality of their Sonicare toothbrushes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased due to a recommendation from Wirecutter and never looked back. It's everything it reports to be: quiet, powerful and sleek. One thing I noticed early on was that the on off button was the same color as the body so visually it was harder to locate than through feel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] neither my wife or I like this. The vibrations are painful and annoying and we don't feel like we are really brushing our teeth. Waste of money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Sonic Electric Toothbrush. I had changed to another company, but the brush just didn't do the trick. Needless to say, I went back to my Sonicare bruch.
It doesn’t work as well as the last toothbrush I .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The brush head doesn’t fit properly on the toothbrush, so it doesn’t vibrate very fast. I have to push it down and then it works a little better.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't like it, the product doesn't have a great feature, battery doesn't last long.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used a different electric toothbrush so the Sonic was a surprise. I like how it works and the weight. I'll know how well it works the next time I visit my dentist.
