I received these AAA batteries a few weeks ago and was a bit skeptical so I decided to run them through their paces on various flashlights and compared them to the bunny brand batteries I generally use. They hold up well and charging doesn't take too long. Pros Can charge with USBC cords Good battery life Charging light indicator on the positive side of the battery Batteries can be charged with a USBC battery supply in the event of a power outage
Cons I wish the charging cord was a little longer
I will be looking to purchase more when they're back in stock
This was given to me by coast for a review. I was scheptical at first about the batteries, especially since I already use another brand of lithium rechargeable battery. The difference between the two is the type-c port but the function is the same. My current batteries only charge through a charger that plugs into a wall, but they use the 4 way split type-c cable. The BMS (battery management system) is located within the battery which brought a interesting issue. I was hoping that the battery would charge on the supplied cable and my current charger. Type-c charges without issue and quickly, but if I add it to the charger it throws a error. I figure the BMC caused the error because then two BMCs are fighting. I added these batteries to a Coast flashlight that only had common batteries as an option, unlike the common rechargeable ones included in their current lineup, which are WONDERFUL!!! The flashlight held up great with these batteries and lasted over a week with random use, providing a steady flow of light. The key to these batteries are the Type-C ports which were valuable when I was not close to my other batteries and charger. Just plugged them right up to a phone charging cable and they charged right up so I could just keep working without looking for additional batteries that ALWAYS hide when you need them. Our phones are so essential to everyday work and usb ports are available everywhere nowadays. So being able to find a solution for charging was brilliant. I have had these for around 3 weeks now and keep them close for any time I may be in a tough spot for light and long run times.
These were 1.5 volts when I received them on September 12. I went ahead and topped them off with a phone charger. I put one in a Coast A5 inspection light that uses 1 AAA battery. Used it for several days and checked the voltage was still above 1.5v. I then put all four cells into a Brother label machine and made several labels. Checked the voltage before this review and all four cells were still over 1.5 volts. I am impressed they hold their charge extremely well. The charging routine is pretty straight forward. Using a type C plug when the light goes from red to green the cell is charged. I like that only one cell can be recharged at a time or any combination of the four. I am part of the Coast Field Tester program.
Easy to charge these batteries as you are supplied with a USB plug in which enables the user to charge just using the cord which has individual connections for each battery, so no large battery pack wall charger to bring along, just the cord. Battery charge is above average in what I have used them for. What is also nice is they include a small plastic carry case to keep the batteries stored, which makes them easy to put in an EDC pack where you don't have loose batteries everywhere.

Great brightness, long term capacity. With a 320 lumen spot, left on continuously for over 3 hours, over 8 hours, and even at 15 hours in 80 degree (F) temperatures, these batteries delivered. In a "worst case scenario", you would still have light at over 24 hours, albeit small. Cold beater: Similar performance was found at freezing temperatures for 4 and 8 hr. continuous on durations, making this a suitable "shift light" for those working in cold temperatures. Durability: After 8 hours in the freezing cold, the batteries still presented a full, bright power source after letting warm to room temperature and then 85 minutes to charge. Alkalines would be toast. Other devices compatibility: In the RC truck rapid acceleration, deceleration, cornering, and obstacle resistance were superb for over 30 continuous minutes. The truck was then left "on" for 48 hrs. and still had 75% of its power while continuously used again for over 30 minutes.
Conclusions A great bang for the buck when used in small lights and toys! I recommend Coast to everyone I know, even for self-defense class students.
*Product provided for review by Coast. **Coast also honored their exceptional guarantee by sending me a new PolySteel 250 when the test LED bulb appeared to be burned in my original at 24 hours continuous on. Exceptional service!
Love the convenience of having the charging cable be able to plug into each battery! The batteries work amazing too and love that they have the USB-C charging port as well! These are great and I will definitely be grabbing more of them!
Great rechargeable batteries. Love the fact that they can be recharged independent from each other. Depending on the device using them, you could even recharge them while they are in the device! They can be used on anything that uses the size you bought. Something I think that would be cool to seen on the next version, a charge level indicator if you click a button. Or another cool idea would be if possible, adding Bluetooth to connect to an app to monitor all your batteries! I will definitely purchase more of these as I can afford to do so!!! They use usb-c to charge which is nice since it's the same as my phone, headphones and several other devices!
