My best camera so far. It's a computer with a lens.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: biggest problem is downloading updates to it.

Best Canon APS-C so far

This camera definitely needs some updates (I heard a Mark II is on the way) like a vari angle LCD for video, a new sensor to improve HI ISO performances and so, but it's still the best EOS APS-C camera., for stills and video too. Actually, it's still the only "professional" EOS APS-C camera on the market.
If you don't need its professional features, like the professional grade build quality, the great ergonomy, the 8 fps or the very good AF, a much cheaper model like the 3Ti will do just fine.

Why it is so great

Pro: This is a great semi-pro level camera before you step up to the Mark series. It is for those who feel that they need more control. I can only tell you that it was worth the buy and I think who ever gets their hands on this or the next model of this camera will enjoy the returns of quality.
Con: The only con for me is that it is not full frame. My last camera was full frame, so me it is taking me some time to adjust from the view point.

Upgrade from XSI

After much deliberation, I purchased this model as an upgrade from my XSI. The pic quality is excellent and I'm glad I went with this model. It is heavier than my previous camera, but I feel that makes it more durable and solid. The controls are different and it has taken some time to get adjusted, but it's not hard to learn the new placements. No problems with battery life or other operations so far. The only con so far is that it's heavy, but that is the difference between consumer brand and a more professional brand.

I love my Canon 7D and i think it is the bomb. I love all it can do and everything it is capable of doing it is just amazing. I love the canon products very much there build quality. The Canon 7D being completely sealed for environmental purposes is an excellent thought on Canons part. Canon the reputation and quality of there work is why I will always be a Canon Man and never buy anything else buy Canon. The 7D is definitely a clear winner in my eyes that Canon produced. When I first held my Canon 7D I knew right away it was a quality piece of electronics just the feel and the weight spoke for itself. I have held plenty of other camera and they feel like toys in my hands very light and plastic feeling almost like a toy camera. As I tell everyone I know as far as I am concerned their is only one camera maker on the market and that is !!!!!!! CANON !!!!!!! .

I bought my 7D 2 years ago, and have been satisfied with my purchase.
It is a super fast, reliable and solid camera. The autofocus is accurate and the speed is such that it easy to 'get the shot'. Good battery life if all you are doing is walk around photography. The camera is also super durable.
My biggest complaint is that the 7D's pictures are all somewhat 'soft'. I have heard this is attributed to a particularly strong AA filter. I am always cranking up the sharpness on DPP or lightroom. Also, I wouldn't think of using less than the top of the line lenses for the 7D, I'm currently using the 15-85mm and 24-105mm primarily on this camera. I have used a couple lower quality lenses and was thoroughly disappointed with the results. Other than that, this camera is heavy, but that is also what gives it its durability.
