Worth it!!

I bought this camera for its video capability, I almost spent money on a 35mm adapter for my video camera to get that sought after film look and this camera saved me a thousand dollars, plus it takes beautiful pictures. Cropped sensor is the only downfall and thats not really major since a lot of cinema camera have the same size sensor. Being able to adjust the detail levels and run your footage through magic bullet will give you great film looking footage. Canon has not enabled people to really shoot cinema quality video.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Consumer Camera in Big Box

PQ very poor muddy and soft
Large Grain in 400 ISO.
Consumer grade CMOS .
Over all very expensive consumer level camera….
Nice video but audio unusable…Lack of any control over the audio make this future useless unless you planning to shoot silence video. In video mode no auto focus.
Pros: Simple controls/menu
Cons: Shaky operation, Missing features/settings, Poor image quality, Poor build quality, noisy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

7D raises the bar

I made the switch from another brand that I had been shooting for 4 years, Thought it was time to make the move to a company that took my vision for photography as serious as I do, So Canon got my business!
I chose the 7D after looking a several samples and seeing what some good glass can do on this body. I have been very pleased with the results;
Main reason's
FPS
100% vf
18mp - with no real bump in quality
IQ
Higher ISO output
Video for me is a side note not the primary reason for purchase.
Overall very hard to top this camera!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, trigger off camera flash
Cons: have to dig into menus for some settings

Terrific Camera

I have owned this camera since October 2009. At first I was disappointed due to poor quality RAW in Photoshop. But once Adobe updated their Camera RAW software for this camera, I have been nothing but amazed at the sharpness and color and clarity this camera captures. I use a Canon 16-35 L lens (first generation of this lens) as well as a Canon 70-200 2.8 L IS lens. The 16-35 is my main lens and the images are just an order of magnitude better than they were on my older Canon 30D. If you're still using a xxD camera and you have the money, upgrade! The only thing I would add is increase in-camera sharpening -- I took mine to the max setting and it has paid off very well in the increased image quality.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Coming from my 400D, this was the best decision I've made. Everything is ten fold better and will allow me to improve my skills and provide better IQ to my clients, etc.. I also enjoy the HD video, it provides a versatile side of the camera and it's fun to use and make excellent videos.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu

Way More Than I Expected

I decided to buy this camera because aside from its IQ, my 5D kept sending me back to my D200 for a shooter's camera. The 7D arrived propitiously in time for a week off work and a snowstorm - perfect for the kind of work I like to do most. I got to follow some cardinals and a pheasant through snowy inner-city backyards around me to test the mettle of this 7D with my beloved lightweight and nasty-sharp 300mm f/4L IS and a 430EX.
Canon finally gets it, IMHO. Without paying megabucks for a camera the size and weight of a patio stone to hang on me as I climb fences wearing boots, I do need a fast, intuitive and responsive camera. This is it. The controls are placed so they don't slow me down. The camera is sized and shaped for moving. AF to die for. Muffled shutter noise. Good with gloves.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, excellent vf

Having been canon user for more than ten years, I am satisfied with 7D.
I take quick movement subject frequently, and upgraded from 40D recently.
My favorite new features are the focus system and wireless flash control.
What I don't like:
1. The multifunction key is impossible to reach when using a battery grip to take photos in the portrait oreintation.
2. It is very hard to focus automatically during video mode.
3. The shutter release button on the battery grip is tooooooooooooooo sensitive. The worst one I have seen for those of 5 different Canon cameras.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!
