For manual video it's a great Camera when it comes to using it for photography the camera has a high failure rate. Images come out very soft!! I own the 70-200 2.8 L &16-35 2.8 L and I have used them on my prior canon body's with zero issues, I have tried applying the micro adjustments but I'm still not happy. It's a hit and miss on the focus.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: focus is soft !!

I have been using 7D for since the Canon released the camera. I travelled to Grand Canyon to Zion National Park to Bruce Canyon, 7D gave me the best result.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

I love this camera!

This is one of my favorite cameras, because it features everything I need for wedding photography. It is quiet, has many ISO and shutter speed numbers. Not to mention the quality of my images are always beautiful.

There were things that needed getting used to that may have reduced my rating 4 years ago, but I'm glad I didn't jump to conclusions. This camera is still very relevant, despite its age. It is professional quality, sealed tight, solid and super-responsive. The only thing I regret, is that it has no headphone port to monitor sound during video recording. A person whose work involves extensive filmmaking would obviously choose the 70D instead. But, very few wildlife photogs would find fault in this camera, except for the dated high ISO performance.
Pros: rugged and tough, excellent weathersealing, very responsive
Cons: dated high iso performance, no headphone jack

I am a retired professional photographer, but I still shoot high school and college sports. It is a great camera and does everything I ask of it on a daily basis.

I have 2 7D's. I am a freelance sports shooter in Northern Virginia and am able to capture some really great shots using the 7D with the 70-200 L IS II and the 17-40 L IS for the short shots. I sling the short shot 7D and monopod the long. I shoot a lot in low light and am able to control the noise (High ISO) by adjusting the speed and using the 8fps high burst rate. I do have to cull the bad ones out but I alway have those that are tack sharp. I find the 7D easy to setup and work with. The weight can be a bit much when using large glass and thats why they have monopods and tripods. The only feature I miss would be not having a dual CF and SD card slots.

Best camera I have owned

I have owned a Canon for almost 10 years and I will always be a canon owner. I've had this camera for almost a month and it exceeds my expectations. One word of advice is to really go thru the owners manual and spend time learning all the features of this camera. Some people say they have problems with this camera, read the book and spend time learning what this awesome tool can do.

Great ergonomics. Small details missing

Great camera overall. Very good for sports and events where fast (not necessarily super accurate) AF is needed. For precise AF, the camera offers the spot AF which is extremely useful. Also present is the AF point expansion that somehow didn't make its way to the new 70D. The AF-expansion is far more useful than one might think and the performance has never let me down in terms of speed and accuracy. It isn't a pig to haul around and feels sturdy and well-fitted when used with the grip (don't get me started on the endless battery life!).
The one thing I love about this camera more so than any other speed-oriented camera (5 fps and above) is its ability to shoot in AI-Servo even at 7-8 fps. Many cameras bluff about their continuous shootins speed, but they don't tell you that the continuous speed applies only in single-focus mode. On the 7D, I was most surprised that its AF system and shutter work together so incredibly well to deliver fast performance and superior accuracy. Nothing else (in non-pro cameras) comes close.
However, the camera does have flaws. Thankfully they're mostly non-hardware-related so nothing failed and those that aren't up to expectation aren't huge problems. First, the RAW/JPEG button should be customizable to another setting, since its original function is just too useless in my world. If I can use it to switch BETWEEN RAW and JPEG rather than selecting one format or both format combined, that would make operation a whole lot smoother (coming to think of it, it would be nice if the "Q" buttn can be modified also).
Also, the DOF preview button, although can be customized to activate a certain preset AF setting, must be held down in order to have such function enabled. This is again annoying because of my use with longer lenses (70-200 2.8) where I have to constantly adjust the lens, leaving the DOF button uncovered and therefore loosing my preset AF function.
The camera's meter is inaccurate in my experience under some circumstances, especially when used in green-coloured settings (nature). It usually renders green as "dark" rather than a specific colour tone, and therefore ends up over exposing the image with mostly green elements. It is also extremely sensitive to white, usually rendering white as 2-4 stops brighter than other colours in a same-lit environment.
Lastly, with a metering system filled with lots of "zones," I was disappointed that AF-spot linked metering is not available. On the plus side, when used in Area-AF mode, the camera does take into account of which area you are using to focus.
After extensively using this camera in all photographic fields (type and location), I conclude that this is a superior camera with very good speed even in AI-Servo, but is flawed with mostly firmware-based shortcomings. Hear me Canon, if you can fix those minor firmware irks of mine I (and many others, I'm sure) will be extremely thankful.

Cons: Missing features/settings, some buttons are useless, no face detection phase af, sometimes-innaccurate meter, non-rgb meter
