I love this camera!!!

This is my 7th Canon digital SLR purchase, and I must say that the 7D is by far my favorite. The 18 megapixel at 8FPS is awesome! I shoot lots of high school sports and find the focus tracking system and low noise high ISOs extremely helpful in the low lights of high school gyms and fields.
The built-in wireless transmitter is a great feature! No need to pay the extra $300 + for an add-on transmitter.
I haven't used the video much yet, but knowing that I have the ability to grab a quick one of my teams receiving championship trophies is an extra bonus for adding excitement to my sports websites.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great auto tracking, low noise in high isos
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Camera

This is one great camera. Everything about it reeks quality. I have just been shooting Sea Gulls flying, with a 100 to 400 Canon L lens. I was shooting in bright sun at 1/1000 of a second. This camera was tracking every bird absolutely perfectly, as it moved through the air. I've never had a camera that kept up that quickly. Just perfect. What a joy to use something of this quality. I love it!!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Outstanding purchase

Before I had the 7D I had the Rebel XTi. I also have the L Series zoom lenses in 17-40, 24-105, 70-200, and most recently added the 100-400 for wildlife. This combination is unbeatable for any needs I have as an enthusiastic amateur. The rapid firing mode is ideal for tracking bird flights, and the ability to go to ISO 6400 meant some great Christmas lights pictures hand held.
Picture quality is superb, there are more options than I know how to use (though I'm learning), and I don't think it will be possible for me to "outgrow" this system. It's not inexpensive, but a great value!
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

awsome camera

This camera takes beautiful crystal clear photos right out of the box. Although there is a lot to learn about using this camera, it is pretty much straight forward. The Auto position on the camera takes out the guess work for most pictures. While I have been practicing and learning to use the camera I take one shot in the auto position and then experment with the other different settings. I did find some tutorial DVDs that helped in the learning process. I purchased this camera for a planned trip to Alaska this year, I can't wait to use it with my new canon EF100-400mm US USM lense to capture some of the wildlife up north.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Perfect Compliment
on March 4, 2010

I am now in EOS heaven! This is the perfect compliment to the 5D Mark 2. If It sits still, I use the 5D mark 2 and if it moves I now have the 7D. The 7D is FAST, and, as long as you have good glass, it's terrific in all situations. The 50D was NOT as bad as some thought, although, replacing my 50 with this has made me very happy.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Well worth the money

I purchased a Canon 7D about 6 weeks ago. If you are used to using a EOS camera it is very simple and straight forward. It does an amazing number of thing and does them all well. The biggest suprise for me was the hiigh quality video. I expected a so so quality video to go along with a great still shot camera, but was blown away by how good it is. I have done commercial video using a $80,000 camera for 10 years and this camera shoots as good or better than that camera. The only down side is no electric zoom for smoother push pulls.
Overall I feel like I got a great camera that performs way better than I expected. I had a 30D prior to this and I loved that camera...this is way better though.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Canon eos 7D

A beautiful camera that has a wonderful ergonomic design, very easy to use. However, I was hoping to get a much better result in my auto focus modes as Canon boasts that the dual digic 4 processors will do just that. I shoot in a lot of fast paced ambient lighting situations like motor sports, but was not overly impressed with the outcome. Many shots were out of focus and with my need to wear corrective lenses and the inability to use live view because of the outdoor light, my experience was not what I had hoped for. I just ordered a Hoodman 3.0 loupe and I hope that it helps because there is no af in video mode.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy, o.k. autofocus
