Totally Impressed !!!

I recently purchased a 7d, to upgrade from my 40D. I spent time reading reviews and decided this was the camera for me. I am a wildlife photographer. The camera has performed flawlessly and the quality of the images are superb! I chose to stay away from a full size sensor, in order for my Canon 300 F2.8 to have a longer reach due to the crop factor. The images are sharp, and I am able to crop them, and still have a great final image.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

CAN'T GET SHARP PHOTOS

No matter how I try,on a very sturdy,highend tripod,auto/manual focus,with/without zooming into live view to focus.With/without flashes.With/without mirror lockup.All sorts of shutter speeds/f-stops,with 10 sec delay,etc,etc,etc...With the supplied EF 29-135 lens and the newer EFS 15-85.
I just can't get a tack sharp or sharp image.
I've even tried focusing slight distances ahead and behind objects.

best pictures-most complicated system

I got great pictures with the camera at auto settings. However when I tried to set my own preferences it was a nightmare. There are just too many vairables.
The manual leaves a lot to be desired. I bought a third party book which didn't help either.
This is probably my 10th digital camera and my 4th canon.
Bottom line the picture come out great.

A Great Buy

So far have not found a single problem with this camera for me. The video is very nice and so far have had no problems. The controls are simple and the camera is a little difficult to use at first but then is very simple after a few times of shooting with it. No complaints!! It is a little heavy but that is hardly noticable when shooting.

first thing you notice is this cameras light weight and the way it fits perfectly in your hand! very well designed and excellent constuction! love the 1.6 crop factor for getting you closer to wild life with smaller lighter lenses! took pics of flying seagulls and got tack sharp images! great action camera! 100% crops look sharp! also good for portraits and pretty much everything! very easy to use and flip through menus,nice screen layout easy to read.with little effort you get great quality pics! every option you could ever want on a camera! im sure with time pictures can only get better after learning how to use the options to your benefit.also takes great indoor pics with low light and no flash.6400 iso looks looks good,a liltle grany to be expected but still very acceptable! cant say enough about this camera,the more you learn the more you like it! great camera for all occassions and easy to carry all day! cant say enough!

7D nice but disappointed

I love the quality and features of 7D but focus performance or should I say lack of it killed the experience for me. I've had too many oof pics in comparison to my 50D and I was using center spot focusing all the time. Some times the pics would come out ok but mostly they lacked focus although lcd seemed to show it ok.

My only serious complain is that as great this camera is it does not have a plug in in the raw file to be used by adobe photoshop,it is a big let down.A pro featured camera must be able to be compatible with the # 1 photo industry software.The software that is supplied with the camera to open the raw file can not be tranfered in raw format to adobe.It only transfers the file into jpg.Please solve this issue in your next software upgrade to the camera.

What a camera!!!!

I have always loved Canon SLRs, and this one is, without a doubt, the best of all!. It combines so many features into one package that it would satisfy almost any pro or amateur. Because I shoot a lot of sporting events, I wanted an extra fast shutter and FPS. This camera delivers! I do a great deal of traveling and shoot nature. Again, this camera provides everything! I also love shooting video and editing (FCP) professionally, and I'm NOT disappointed with the quality of the high definition. Shooting High Def video through a luxury lens is simply an awesome experience with quality you won't believe! It has something for everyone! It also enhances the quality of my 70-200 2.8 L telephoto to deliver bright and sharp images time after time after time! The most dependable camera I have ever had, and it's a Canon which means it's built like a truck. It is the best bang for the buck out there! Buy one today!
