Quality Continues

After retiring my 30+ year-old Canon A-1, the EOS 7D continues the tradition of Canon Quality. Not able to afford the EOS 1D series nor the 5D II, I managed to "splurge" for the 7D. I don't regret it. This camera has all the features I need and much more. 18 megapixels is amazing as the quality of the photos are excellent, even when cropped to a small portion of the orginal shot. The default exposure metering is very accurate, but one still has the option of "tweaking" the exposure settings as desired. The various feature options and settings are logically arranged and easily changed. The viewfinder is large and bright while the autofocus choices are many without being overwhelming. The autofocus is "right-on," The wireless flash capabilities are extremely welcome as I no longer have to fumble/stumble over wires and cables. Truly, an excellent camera!

TERRIBLE Focusing Issues

All I have to say is, "Go ahead and google the term 'Canon 7D focusing issues' when you get the chance." Enough said. Don't take my word for it. Take the points of views and opinions of users, as they talk about the focusing issues I have experienced since day ONE with my Canon 7D.

The potential for creative photography with this camera appears to be nearly unlimited, and I have truly enjoyed working my way through the learning curve. The 7D is a complex instrument in many ways, but could not be simpler to use if that is what is needed due to the flexibility of the automatic settings. I would recommend it to anyone who has a desire to become a better photographer and who is willing to spend some time being critical of their own work. The software that comes with it, the manual, and the available on line assistance is of very high quality and very helpful. All things considered, the D7 package is very well put together.

Improvement

The camera is a giant step up from the 40 D. faster, sharper. The quality shot at 800 and under are great. I was disappointed at 1600+, the Mark III is better, and it's has a red cast ion nside shots. The price is affordable, and it is fast enough to shoot sports, so you don't have to spend the big bucks for a Mark III or IV. Has a nice feel to it. I wish they wouldn't have changed the battery. It means carrying another charger.

good color , alot of settings . it will fire 430exii and 580exii from the pop up flash this is nice . the 8fps is nice to . if you never shot 8fps you will see the shots you have missed . I wish it was a full 35 but its not its a 1.6 crop . after i got use to it and ajusted some settings
i find my self useing it more then my T1i . I used mine for 2 weeks to see what it was doing befor i made any ajustments . after i ajusted the settings I was like wow.

Great Camera

A great camera. The quality and performance live up to the name. Unfortunately the lens in the kit is somewhat sloppy. It creeps to the zoom settings when hanging around your neck. I see movement in the viewfinder when it is focusing. Despite keeping the camera very clean dirt has appeared inside the lens. This is my first Cannon and I will buy Cannon again when the time comes.
Pros: exceptional color/ quality
Cons: kit lens could be better quality.

Quality EOS 7D

I purchased the 7D because I wanted to upgrade from the 50D which is a great camera with beautiful pictures, but I like new challenges and learning about new things so I bought the 7D. I couldn't be happier, the 7D is easier to use than the 50 D and takes great pictures plus with the 18.0 megapixel you can do a lot of cropping. They moved the on and off button to a much better place. The battery has good life and the size of the camera is easy to handle. I tried the 1D, but it was much heavier than the 7D. I use Canon products because of their quality and the support team is excellent. For me the 7D was a little expensive, but worth the sacrifice

Fantastic Camera

I have a 50D and love it, but the 7D just does some things better. The 7D takes very good low light photos. Is it as good as the full frame sensor Canons? No, but it isn't bad. Even at very high ISO, I have never taken a photo that was so bad that Photoshop couldn't easily fix it.
I have never had a "quality" problem with my 7D photographs. This is a complicated camera. One wrong setting can cause problems with your photographs. One thing I have noticed. If you don't use the best lenses that you can afford (I use mostly "L" Glass), that 18 Megapixel sensor will "feature" every flaw in your lens. My 50D will do the same thing.
The 7D is built like a tank, focuses fast and accurately, generates beautiful colors, has given me some outstanding photographs, and is well balanced. I love it!
