Quality Build and Images

I had been running into more and more situations where clients had been yearning for slightly higher image output resolution than I was able to produce with my 40D. I was on the fence between the 7d and 5d but the 5d would have been an extra stretch financially at the moment. The biggest mental hurdle to jump with the 7d were the multitude of reviews I had read reaming the camera for soft images (possibly by other camera company employees?). I have all "L" glass and when combined with the 7d's ability to micro-adjust each lens specifically the result is tack sharp images.

While I was making up my mind on updating to the 7d or 5d a client actually rented me a 1ds MKIII for a weekend shoot for some outdoor images they needed. I have a hunch I will really like the 5d as my next upgrade, but I actually enjoy shooting my 7d more than the I did the 1ds MKIII. Didn't have much time to get the 1ds dialed in, but I thought the images were a little too warm in comparison.

Best Camera Ever Owned

When I first took the 7D out of the box I could tel that it was a solid camera. My new 7D Totally out did my old Rebel XS!!
Some of the things I like Best about this camera is SUPER FAST AF I hardly ever find it searching . And when you combine that with the 8fps Speed you have a Awsome Action Camera
Another Awsome thing about the 7D is the Weather Sealing. I took it out in some pouring down rain and got it all wet. It performed just fine!!!! I took some really cool videos of the rain pouring down!
Some other things I love about this camera is the image quality at high ISO's the 19 Point AF And just soooo many other things
Over all I like this Camera better that the 5D Mark II it is so much faster!!! One thing I think Canon should ad to the 7D is a full Frame sensor but Im sure that will come!!
Pros: weather sealing, magnesium alloy body, speed, fast 19 point af, awsome image quality, solid
Cons: can't think of any

Awesome Camera!

This is by far the Best Canon Camera I've ever owned. I started out with a Canon A-1 Film 35mm to a Canon 20D, 30D now this 7D OMG so awesome. can't brag enough. pricey but u do get what you pay for and it's worth every penny of it. I will sell my 20D and use my 30D for backup. Canon rocks!! too bad they changed the battery due to I have several oh well. it happens. Thank you Canon.

SUPERB Camera

I am an amateur photographer and have had the 7D for about 11 months. It has taken me a while to learn to use all of great features like the built-in remote flash capability, the fast, accurate 19 point autofocus (5 different AF modes), and the 8 frames per second. But, from the first day my photography was improved and has continued to improve as I continue to learn (Don’t miss Canon’s excellent Digital Learning Center tutorials, tips & techniques). The solid feel of the body speaks to you every time you pick it up. The 100% viewfinder image, the improved ISO (good as shot up to 800, and I get good useable images up to 3200 ISO with Lightroom 3), and the great depth of field effects from the crop sensor (1.6) all help to boost your confidence whether shooting fast action night football ,dimly lit dance stages or outdoor family reunions. My 7D, however, came with a kit lens (28-135). While the lens is useable, it’s slow to focus, loud, a little soft at both ends, and lacks sufficient range for my needs. I would have much preferred Canon to have shipped the 7D with the 15-85 (or a 70-200 f4 IS {:<)).
I take a lot of pictures of my family (football, dance reviews, vacations, etc.), so far, over 8000 images since I got the7D. My keep rate has gone from less than 30% to about 80% after acquiring the 7D and a couple of decent lenses. I had some older third-party EOS lens which worked fine for my old Canon film camera. Those lenses also functioned on the 7D, but the images were usually just not adequate. I currently have the EFS 10-22, a 17-50 f2.8, and a EF 70-300. My 70-300 is soft near 300 so am hoping to upgrade to the new 70-300L or to a 70-200 f4 IS. I have tried a number of different lenes on the 7D body (bought, borrowed, and leased) and I believe “L” or other top quality lenses are almost a must for this camera as the 18mp sensor will reveal even the slightest lens flaw. I would recommend this camera to any serious amateur, but if you just want to shoot a few good snapshots then look toward something like the Powershot S95 or the G11.

Cons: needs top quality lenses(spell expensive), complex capbilities long learning curve, needs monopod for stable video (may be me), should come with a lens equa to the quality of the

EOS 7D Awesome Camera

I have used this Camera for 6 months now (told myself I would wait to write a review until I used it more than a few days). All I can say is AWESOME CAMERA. Every Picture is crisp and clear even when speed shooting. We tend to take 10 to 12 action shots of our children and they all look great. I couldn't ask for a better camera. When in HD film capture mode the camera is better than our dedicated video recorder. When we bought this camera we bought it frame only and are using 2 lenses that were purchased for my old canon back in 1996 and it works fabulously I can only dream of what a newer uptodate lens would do with it.
Pros: superfast camera action, wonderful versitility in video mode and speed mode, superfast focus, detail of pictures are unbelieveable, love the extened battery base grip, "aa" battery magazines available
Cons: wish it would time stamp photo's sometimes, a little heavy and bulky with base grip

Does everything well!

I have owned the 7d for 8 months now and have shot hundreds of images in a variety of shooting conditions. This Camera suprises every time I shot. Auto focus setting(s) are very accurate , images are of high resolution, rich in color and with good lenses will stand up to any of the Canon Camera line.
Pros: best camera i have ever owned
Cons: wish it was a full frame, i can do without video
