ANOTHER AMAZING CAMERA

This camera makes my 20D look like a Point and Shoot which is saying something considering that the 20D has taken numerous award winning photos. It is avery sophiscated camera that requires a significant learning curve even for the experienced photographer. The extent of integration of the features, i.e., the exposure zones, focusing points,speedlite, etc., in combination is awesome. The apparent sharpness seems to equal at best to the 20D that has been exceptionally good. This would seem to be somewhat reasonable given the 2.2 times greater resolution. The noise seems to more evident. There seems to be a yellow/orange color cast for some reason. I would have liked to have the articulated LCD.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, electronic level, live view
Cons: sharpness is marginal, noise is marginal, needs +- five stops aeb, needs articulated lcd

My 1st DSLR

I contemplated buying a DSLR for months and wanted to make sure that the one I purchased shot video. I was not disappointed with the 7D. It took me a little while to get used to the plethora of options in the menus but once I familiarized myself it got easier.
The build quality on this camera is fantastic. It will stand up to some pretty rough bumps and scrapes. The video that comes out of it is stellar and I appreciate that it shoots in both 1080p and 720p.
It has a 100% viewfinder which may not seem like a big deal but you usually only find this feature on much more expensive cameras like the 5D or the 1D.
The still images are good too and it excels in low-light and you can get workable images up to 3200 ISO. My one piece of advice is buy the camera body by itself and skip the kit lens.

One more Canon purchase

I'd been looking at upgrading my Canon Digital Rebel camera that was a few years old - and luckily my wife beat me to it, and purchased the EOS 7D for me for Christmas.
What a great gift, and what a great camera. The camera is a bit heavier than I'm used to - but it feels good and balanced in my hands. This is my 6th Canon camera, going back to the AE1, F1, A1 film cameras (all of which still are in use).

The picture quality is superb, and with all the features on the camera - I don't feel like I've explored everything quite yet. With all the features - I'd like to see Canon include the owners manual on the camera, so I could retrieve the instructions on the LCD panel when I'm out in the field and don't have the manual with me.

EOS 7D

I started with the EOS 40D which I was very pleased with. I still use it occasionally. When the EOS 7D came out I just had to have it! One of my better decisions. This camera has it all! I have yet to take a BAD picture with it. It is definitely an intricate instrument! The learning experience in this camera is interesting and very rewarding. I feel I am mastering it about 70% of its capabilities. Anyone looking for a great camera that will compete with anyone...look no farther! This is the one! You cannot go wrong!

First DSLR

This is my first DSLR ever. As expected, I'm very happy with this camera. It takes fantastic photos and amazing Hi-Def video. I've done a lot of research on different DSLRs and thought this one was perfect for my needs... which were great burst speeds for shooting sports (up to 8 Frames Per Second), a weather resistant body and fast dual processors. If you are starting out in photography or videography and if you can afford it... get the 7D. You will not be dissapointed.

It's hard to beat the canon EOS 7D!

It s really hard to beat the canon eos 7d.
I bought an 60d for a an upgrade for my missed rebel XTI.
I liked the 60d, it comes with terrific features specially the swivel screen great for some movie shooters and many more, unfortunatly i am not in videography, i don't really care about the swivel screen, i was about to buy a 50d, but a 60d comes out, i said no the eos 60d will succeed the 50D, and it has almost the same sensor to the 7d and has nice features.
I used it for two months because i bought it on november 2010 the day of my birthday, i liked it and gave me good results, unfortunatly there were something i didn't like on the 60d and as an canon Fanboy it s an big downgrade from the EOS 50D, the plastic body makes the hardware cheap and too light, it stays between the T2I and the 7D, bigger than the T2I and smaller the the 7D, but has a good grip, but i don't feel it ergonomically, the build quality is supposed to stay like at least the 50D or the 5d Mark II
because Build quality is very important on DSLR, thew 7D is strong, rugged, weather sealed, 7D is even more strong heavier (820G Body only) than 5D mArk2(810G body only) and 50D, the 60D frames rates is awesome, 5D mark II is sad just it's full frame and has more Mega pixels and lack the built of Pop up flash, 50D is a terrific ergonomically, and the frames rates of the 50D is happy, I love shooting action, so i need the huge frames rate, i love a heavy camera but not like the eos 1DS MII or IV ...Seriously I am not rich but i don't have financial issues, i can even purchsase EOS 1DS Mark III, i already returned the canon eos 60D, the same day before i go to bed i gotta purchase an eos the store are open in NYC on sunday.
I gotta choose between 5D Mark II and 7D, seriously the 50D is awesome but it going to be archaic soon.
5D Mark II is terrific but the frames rates is slow, i don't care about it's full frame and it's 21 MP, and doesn't have built on pop up flash, it;s more friendly in studio, i gotta shoot outside a lot, i can see some wildlifes, lanscape, actions in the street of NYC,so the 7d can do the job done, it's one of the best canon eos timelines, built quality is superior, rugged, and weather sealed, I already have it, i am thinking getting another one for a back up body.

Very nice workhorse

I have owned my 7D for just over a year now, I usually shoot weddings, portraits and action sports (Tae Kwon Do, MMA, Snowmobiling, Motocross). I have been very pleased with the 7D overall with 2 minor issues. 3 months in, mine quit, died, went belly up in the middle of a wedding shoot, brought out my old XT to save the day. Sent in the camera for repair after taking it to the local Canon Dealer to double check batteries with their 7D. When I got it back (9days) it worked great!!! The receipt said no problems were found and to replace my battery. I have been using that battery for a year now. Not sure what they fixed, but they should have owned up to it. Since then, it has worked flawlessly overall, but I do find myself relying on a gray card while shooting for post production tweaking as the white balance never seems to be quite right, either in auto or any of the settings

Canon's Best Crop Camera Yet

This was my sixth Canon DSLR: 300D, 350D, 5D, 40D, 50D, 7D, and now 5D MKII. There is no question that the user interface on the 7D is the best I have used. The customization possible is wonderful. I especially like the Quick Menu, My Menu, AF Microadjustment, the grid overlay in the viewfinder and in Live View, the level, the AF point options, button assignment choices, and remote flash.
All these features take a while to master, but the power is well worth it. Among the few things I would like to see added in the 7D MKII are an articulated screen like the 60D and reassignment of the print button (on a serious camera like the 7D, does anyone hook up to a printer and print directly without postprocessing first on a computer?).
The only rough spot for me is controlling a flash. The menu items and what they do are not intuitive.
