Great camera!!!! Easy to use and fun to use!!! The Quality is unmatched and every picture is fantastic! We plan to take the 7-D everywhere and try to get max utility. And if we wear it out, we will buy another one. Thanks for making a top quality product!!!!

A wonderful camera!

The 7D is an amazing camera. As an avid film user, it took awhile for digital to win me over. I haven't been this excited since I first purchased my Canon A-1, 31 years ago. The image quality is remarkable, and it is easy use, even before you read the manual. It is solidly built, and I love the grip on the body which makes holding and shooting effortless.

Overall this is an amazing camera.
Super image quality and camera performance in the right hands.
An almost endless array of customizable features. So many features that it can be overwhelming at first. Take the time to learn and understand these features and you will start to really appreciate what this camera can do.
Build quality is excellent and the camera has an excellent feel to it.
Price is a bit on the steep side. This is the reason I only gave an overall rating of 4 out of 5.

Purchased the 7D for video projects

Purchased the 7D for video projects and so far am very happy with it. If your looking for pro audio it will cost you $400 depending on what you go with b/c you need a way to disable the Auto Gain Control on the camera and currently there is no way to do this on the camera. Not a show stopper just pick up a AGC disabling XLR preamp. Over all I am very pleased with the performance of the 7D. It is fast, accurate, creates great images and video with excellent color. Really wish Canon would provide some sort of Firmware update to give controls over AGC or Manuel audio levels, it would still be very nice to have.

A Game Changer!

I had been longing for something to help me transition my freelance video production into many things. I wanted to look into digital photography, high definition, and an overall different look than my prosumer miniDV cameras.
First, knowing nothing about photography other than what I can take from my video knowledge, I was able to make a profit from photos in no time. Every image looks so incredibly clear. I am amazed at the blazing speed and quality of the burst mode, taking 8 pictures per second.
The two big reasons for buying this camera were the high definition options (24/30/60fps) and the lens selection. I wanted something that could give me an shallow depth of field and a more cinematic experience, and I found it right out of the box with the 28-135mm lens that was included in my kit. I can only imagine the possibilities when I purchase more lenses. The audio from the camera isn't that great, however audio should be recorded separately anyway.
I have no problem editing the video either. I have run into issues with HD consumer cams not working well in my editing software, however there is no problem here. This has been the greatest addition to my arsenal, and I suggest that anyone wanting a professional look at a much more reasonable price than some of your other options out there needs to choose a Canon DSLR!

Addition to my Bag of goods

I purchaed the Canon 7D as a backup to my Canon 5d Mark II. The 7D layout was close to that of the 5D Mark II and was an easy transition. I think I will be using the 7D more as I go along but its still my backup to the 5D.

Fabulous Camera - Buy One!

This was my second DSLR. I loved my first one, but when I got the 7D it was like entering a whole new world of experience. I love the range of options built in to the camera. My friends are constantly amazed at the vibrant colors I get - I'm sure partly due to the color sensors in the camera that focus specifically on color! The camera has not failed me once in nearly a year of use. I've recommended it to friends who were looking to buy "up" - and they love their 7D, too. There's not really anything you can't do with this well-built, highly reliable, incredible piece of technology. I highly recommend it!!!!

Don't Overlook This Camera

The EOS 7D can create an interesting decision for the advanced amateur or the Canon using Pro who wants a second/back-up body. Reason, the 7d's sensor and processors provide such outstanding image quality that except for extremely large prints I have found I don't need the full-frame sensor of my 5D. I have printed images taken with the 7D up to 20x24" and 24x30" and the pixles in the prints simply hold together...however, anything larger I use my 5D and its full frame sensor.
Noise control is outstanding with the 7D...again, a factor of the sensor and dual processors.
For landscapes I now use both my 5D and 7D depending on the situation and how large I will be printing images for sale. For weddings and portraits I only use the 7D anymore...it is so fast (the 8fps is real) and again the image quality is so good I never long for the full frame sensor of the 5D for weddings and portraits.
There are only two things with the 7D that Canon needs to improve....for some reason they still stubbornly refuse to put a mirror lock-up button on the body causing one to go into the extensive menu system to activate mirror lock-up. Secondly, a camera of this level should come with dual card holders..well worth the few extra bucks that would be added to the cost of the body. Not deal-breakers for me but both should be there!
I sincerely can highly recommend this body...put a battery pack (grip) on the body and with the two batteries it seems you can shoot forever.
