Amazing camera!

I finally purchased the 7D and I wish I hadn't waited. It is responsive, quiet and the features are great. Upgrading from a much loved 30D, so the learning curve is not huge though Live View and HD video are new and there are many new options.. I know my images can only improve with this inspiring camera. The 28-135 "kit" lens is also great and a wonderful value.
Pros: sturdy body quiet fast and clear viewfinder, crisp lcd.
Cons: none i can find.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for Night time action shots

I upgraded from canon xti to this 7D for the main reason of night time football games. I just love this camera, it's fast, good quality and all the controls are easy access, just have to get use to the on and off switch being located at the top left instead of the top right..love the focus pts which are bigger and has 19 of them
Pros: great quality fast and the body is a great fit
Cons: pricey and a little heavier

Worth Every Penny

Not only is this a phenomenal camera, it's practically indestructible. I've had my 7D for about seven months now and it still looks brand new. I thought it was done for when I got it wet. You'd never know even got wet. The quality of the photos it takes are incredible. The speed and accuracy of the program inside the camera is genius.
Pros: speedy turn on, user friendly, indestructible, unbelievable photo quality, easy grip, long battery life, takes stills and video, quiet, unique scroll
Cons: pricey (but you get what you pay for)

This is a awesome camera with great quility but if you buy it make sure you put on a screen protector right away my top LCD got scratched really badly!
Pros: great quility, great video, big lcd, good settings
Cons: bad audio quility with video, can't control mic sound

4th SLR camera

I love canon cameras. Their construction is flawless. I jumped from a 40d to the 7d over the 5d because of the versatility being able to use ef and eff lenses even though it was still a half frame camera. It took me a few months to combine the customized settings. When I did the real beauty of that camera came alive. I do a lot of scenic pictures landscape/wildlife/cityscapes/weather with my own camera. I do portrait pictures at a commercial studio for work and that company uses canon 40d. I had seen a few complaints about noise problems which are easily overcome with noise ninja. if you spend the money on a great camera better have great software as well. One has to expect challenges doing night shots at 6400 iso. I also saw complaints about low lcd and that is an easy fix with an auto lighting optimizer section. Also can be fixed with with an lcd brightness.
I have owned 4 canon slr's and each has their own charm. The 20d had great features but limited lens focusing compared to the xti rebel. The xti was llimited to 1600 iso compared to the 40d at 3200. The 40d does not have the same sensor, grid display, 18 point focus system vs 9, speed and iso depth as the 7d.
I can admit at 1st I had second thoughts and frustrations like others with the same complaints Once you learn and adapt to its special functions, the real charm of this camera comes alive. The only con was getting thru the learning curve and effectively using it's custom functions.
Adding the copyright information is a must for any enthusiast who wish to be or is on the cusp of calling themselves a professional.
Pros: great battery life, customized settings, preset copyright tagging, 6400 iso, best grid display, 18 point focus system
Cons: finding and combining the customized settings

Best Eos XX Dslr yet

I've owned every model of the EOS Dslr XX in the1.6 imager line from the original D30. That first model just blew me away at the time even though it had a number of major flaws.
I liked almost every model since but frankly they offered just evolutionary changes and my reaction to them ranged from ho-hum to "hey that's not too bad". My reaction to the EOS 7D is more in line with my first purchase of the D30. WOW!
Here is my list of what I think are the really great improvements
Fast and accurate auto focus, really good image quality up through 3200 ISO, bright 100% of field viewfinder, quality build (although the earlier models weren't slouches in this area), and video.

No regrets

I changed from film to digital in 1988, and have run the gauntlet in the field of digital cameras. After extensive research I decided on the 7D as a replacement for my 30D even though it did not have a full-frame sensor.
And after 6 months & 7000+ photos I am still finding myself uttering "WOW" under my breath as I review my shots.
Granted, some may say it is a bit pricey but I have always been a believer in the philosophy of "you get what you pay for".
Great job Canon! I feel that I definately got my money's worth.
