I will never have a canon again all the time OOF the 7D was my dream camera now it just a bit of junk
Pros: good battery life, Superior build quality

Perfect for sports shooting

Canon 7D is fast and furious, perfect for the sports shooting. This is a real deal, i recommend it.

I upgraded to the 7D after using the 60D heavily for one year. I love everything about the 7D, there are many added features over the 60D. The only thing I miss about the 60D is the articulated screen. The first thing you notice is the sound of the shutter is much more substantial, just sounds more professional. The button customization ability is much greater. You can change many settings quickly and easily. The autofocus speed and servo tracking are so much better. The only physical feature of the camera that I don't like is the multi-controller (joystick) that I frequently push by mistake in when trying to push up/down, etc. Overall, though, the camera feels very solid and reliable, and is a pleasure to use.
Since there's no other place to comment on the BG-E7 grip, I'm going to do it here. I don't understand why Canon opted for a back-loading battery tray design, which forces the front of the grip to be very large and blocky, uncomfortable to hold. The grip for the 60D has a side-loading battery tray, which allows for a more tapered design where the fingers hold the grip, and is much more comfortable. Judging from photos, the grips for the 5D II and 5D III are also side-loading and look much more comfortable. These others also have a sliding power button that can be accessed with one hand. The BG-E7 for the 7D requires two hands.

A simply great weapon

I've been using other Canon DSLR cameras like the EOS 30D, 60D, 550D, and 600D. They say it's better to invest in your glass than your camera body; but I did not regret getting the 7D at all -- it's totally awesome.
I especially love the AF system, it's just brilliant. The ISO performance is also not bad at all, if compared to other crop-sensor cameras. Although I use the camera for mostly events involving my friends and family, I go into sports sometimes and the 7D has helped me a lot; its 8 fps burst rate is just great.
The only drawback to the camera is that it's got no audio control which can be found in both the 60D and 600D. That's the only reason why I can't wait for the new firmware which will be released soon which will, if it's really as good as they say it will be, make this camera a perfect weapon.

Excellent Upgrade from Entry Level

Upgraded from a T1i to this bad boy of a camera. I was not ready to go full frame because I simply could not justify the cost.
About me: Amateur, still learning a lot, photographer. Shooting mostly nature; landscapes, flowers, animals, birds (not dedicated though) etc...
This camera gets the job done. The high speed 8fps is very nice when shooting birds and other fast moving subjects and the AF system is 9 out of 10 spot on. The AF system is also very fast compared to entry level DSLRs.
The CF card system is a double edge sword, cards are expensive, but for good reason, these cards are super fast and the camera does a superb job at writing to the card very fast and clearing out the buffer for the next shot. On the largest RAW setting, burst up to 15 images, when on large JPEG or smaller, its almost never ending continuous! Great job there Canon.
Crop factor vs full frame: Having the crop factor is a nice bonus actually, I get a little more reach in my focal lengths than an FF body will and for what I shoot is a nice use of the crop sensor. Make sure you evaluate what you are going to be photographing before you dump money on a FF body you will probably never really get use of anyways (IMHO, FF is good for doing close up photography, like street, indoor, places where you simply need to get as wide as possible [the EF-S 10-22mm seems to do a decent job at fitting that need though on crop sensors]). Overall, this 7D body is a great alternative to spending money on an FF body if not needed.
Menus are pretty easy to navigate, about as good as it gets on a camera. Having custom function presets is nice, set one up for certain situations a just turn the dial and shoot, no need to reset up your settings.
Body feels really solid, heavy construction and slightly larger size compared to entry levels feels good when holding.
Couple this with a few "L" series lens and you got a great setup, Love the 24-105 f/4L with this body, great combo.
I'm sure I could go on, but these are my highlights.
If you are looking to upgrade from Rebel/T series, I would go with this, unless you wanna do a good balance of video as well, the 60D series is nice with the flip out screen, but if no video, get this bad boy!

Great Camera

I love my 7D.
I really enjoy the fps rate, when shooting air shows, birds and motorcycles racing. I take lots of landscape photos, too, and am very pleased with the end results.
I find the 18MP to be perfect for my use.
I have managed to have 2 separate falls (breaking three bones on the second fall) while hiking with the camera and the camera does not skip a beat. It is bullet proof, as far as I am concerned.
The auto focus, for the most part is darn good. I have many more keepers with this body than I did with my previous 20D, 40D or 50D.
I cannot recommend the 7D, enough. I have never felt so good about one of my cameras in the past, as I do the 7D.
Rumour has it there is a firmware update coming down the pike and if it has what I have read about, it is just going to make a great camera even better.

Could be better

Very powerfull camera, but it is sad that canon did not update the firmware to have more options like the Auto ISO limitation that exist on the 60D or the quiet shooting that is possible only by liveview...
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Excellent Underwater

Outstanding for use underwater. Easy access to the primary features you need to use over and over. Fast focus locking and ability to track moving objects. This really helps when you're moving in the water and tracking fast-moving fish. A slow camera fails to deliver in this category. The 7D does not disappoint at all.
