Best lens in Canons line up

This is hands down the single best lens I own. I have used it for everything, weddings, portraits, sports, wildlife, personal vacations. Plus it is built to last, its kinda like a tank, I stumbled walking up a narrow staircase at a wedding last summer and the lens hit the edge of the step extremely hard, however I have never had a problem, it still works as good as when I took it out of the box. It is without a doubt my main lens. The IS is remarkable, it focuses superfast. Honestly it is the best money I have ever spent on my equipment. I dont know how I would get along without it.

I bought this lens with nature shooting in mind. Knew I would not be disappointed, but when I looked at the results I was blown away. Tack sharp images with a nice soft blurring of the background when shot at 2.8 and subject(s) are closer. This makes for a nice second portrait lens.
Price and weight are meaningless once you see your shots.
I was able to pull in a Bald Eagle over a 1/4 mile away hand holding the camera with wonderful results.
There are lots of lenses out there but this is one YOU NEED TO HAVE IN YOUR BAG!
Like my wife, this one is a keeper. I loveit, love it & love it

Great Lens

Purchased this lens within the past month and have used it almost daily. Razor sharp images with excellent Bokeh at lower F-stop settings. Fast AF with excellent build quality. I have used the lens for landscape, still life, and wildlife shots. I look forward to using it for portraits. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for superior quality and sharp images. Well worth the money.

Don't call yourself a pro without one

This is one of my primary work horse lenses and stays mounted on one of my cameras ready at all times. It is the ruler of indoor sports and the best zoom lens for portraits. Durable, fast, and reliable, it pretty much finds a home in any professional's bag. If I could chose a lens that is responsible for a lot of my most prized shots, this lens would surely be it.

This is by far my favorite lens! It is always on my 1Ds MK II in the camera case. I try to shoot everything with it even if it means backing up a few paces. Virtually every portraits I shoot is with this lens.

Flexible, fast, quality

Was not to sure about spending the extra money on the lense at the time, however, have not been able to put it down, the 2.8 can pull a great photo without a flash in candle light. Solid build with quality... love the double IS, fantastic choice between the 2 IS for horizontal and vertical panning, we photograph a lot of dog performance shows and now could and would not be without it! Quiet, quick performance on AF and excellent easy grip on MF... Great Job Canon!!

Superb!

I have been into photography for 16 years now and have taken pictures of everything from Galaxies to Slugs. I have to say that this lens has the versatility of none other in my experience. I have the EF25 Extension tube for Macro work, and the EF 2X II for long range birding shots. I have been quite happy with the results in my 4 months of owning this lens. I was using it on a 40D and just upgraded to the 5D Mk II, wow, just wow! Now I can film HD video with this lens and have the versatility of the zoom range. One feature of the f/2.8 throughout is that you can set up everything for your exposure, zoom, and not have to change anything! Quite useful especially for airshows or things flying past you. I like the option of the two IS modes, although I find myself using Mode I even when it might be better to use Mode II. You are truly getting a great piece of equipment for the price, so go get one today!

My favorite lens

The 70-200 f/2.8 L IS is, by far, my most frequently used and favorite lens. I've been using it with my EOS 30D for over a year for everything from sports to wildlife to portraits to my kids' school events. Nice zoom range with f/2.8 throughout, enabling gorgeous subject isolation and bokeh. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it gets a bit heavy after an afternoon of shooting. But the results are worth it -- crisp, sharp photos with a higher keeper rate than I have with any other lens.
