Not a real improvement over the older Arc5 version

I had an older version of the ARC5 a number of years ago that I used until it wore out. I replaced it several years ago with the Braun top of the line, based on reviews, which I was never crazy about. The trimmer on the Braun didn't trim well at all and didn't pick up those stray flat-laying whiskers, and though ithe shaver itself did better on the initial mowing of longer growth (4 days or so), I'd have to go over and over to pick up random hairs and to get a reasonably close shave. The new Arc5 Pro doesn't feel as well made as the old version,, it takes longer than the older Arc5 to get a close shave (still closer than the Braun). The trimmer on the Arc5 is better that the Braun. I'm somewhat disappointed in that I hoped the new Pro version would be an improvement over the older version. I hoped it would speed up the tedium of getting a good shave even a little bit, but it hasn't.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing such a detailed review. We appreciate your long experience with the Arc5 line and your thoughtful comparison with both the older version and other premium shavers. While we’re glad to hear the shave is still closer for you and that the trimmer performed better, we understand your disappointment that this version did not feel like the improvement you were hoping for in build and shaving efficiency. Your feedback is valuable and helps highlight the expectations of experienced users like you.
I had a Braun Series 7 for over a decade and loved it. It eventually broke and I replaced it with a new one. I couldn't believe the decrease in quality. I prioritize closeness over other dimensions and am delighted with this ARC5 PRO. Solid build, cleaning unit, water proof and, most importantly, shaves nice and close. Also, I was worried about the detergent packet setup versus a cartridge. I already like the detergent setup better. Very easy and much cheaper.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi! Thank you for the 5-star rating. We’re delighted the shaver is delivering the performance you were looking for, and we appreciate you taking a moment to share your feedback.
Worth the upgrade if you have an Arc5. Extremely close shave all around which is better than my Arc5. It also cuts the flat hairs which my original Arc did not do very well. Great travel case. My only complaints which aren't really complaints--plastic head cover is finicky and it seems to be a bit louder than the original Arc5. Overall, extremely happy I upgraded. Much much much less expensive than a Braun upgrade.

Hi Clark! Thank you for the detailed 5-star review. We’re glad to hear the upgrade delivered an even closer shave, handled flat hairs better, and proved to be a strong step forward overall. Your notes on the head cover and sound level are appreciated, and it’s great to know they didn’t take away from your overall satisfaction. We’re also pleased the value and travel case stood out. Enjoy your new shaver.
I like that all 5 blades are in the removable head, it keeps the head size smaller. It's giving a nice close shave with mostly light pressure. USA customers are going to need the ability to buy 'Replacement Blade Sets' ES9510.
