To save a little money on re- covering my dining room chairs, I decided to purchase a refurbished machine. I thought…. Singer is a name brand. Can’t go wrong. From the very first time I was not able to get a proper stitch. The bobbin thread was not catching with the top thread. As it turned out the bobbin hook was out sync with the needle thread loop. I spent several days diagnosing the problem. The hook was timed too early to the position of the needle. After several attempts I was able re- time myself. UGH!!! My saving grace is that I figured this out myself without having to go through the hassle of sending machine back to the factory or paying for a local service tech.
its ok - a good starter machine but NOT heavy duty despite the name. fed a few layers of fabric and the needle broke twice.... isn't able to handle heavy duty materials like the name. its a good sewing machine for everyday basics but if you want something more heavy duty opt for a different machine
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had this machine for about a month now and to be fair, I know that's still too soon to really debate how this machine performs especially considering that it's my first one ever. The only times it's given me issues (twice so far) is that I didn't properly load the bobbin and it all got stuck at the bottom of the machine but it was an easy fix after looking up some videos. I also bent a needle after 5 projects (idk how often I should be changing it, some people say after you've been using it for 8 hours idk how accurate that is either). Other than that, I still really like my machine plus I did get it slightly discounted from this site when they had a sale a couple months ago.
I've been working with this machine for a year now. I bought as a simple straight stitch backup whole my other machines were being serviced. I do not recommend this machine for beginners for these reasons.
-Lightweight, even though it says heavy duty, it's a very lightweight machine and u less you have it affixed or a non slip grip mat under it will move with anything remotely large.
-the upper Looper is constantly coming undone even if you have it all perfect before beginning depending on what you are sewing how fast you sew or just an odd day that stupid upper Looper isn't quite right and consistently comes undone
3. Should be cleaned and oiled after every project or it will start to make noise and skip stitches.
If you use the cutter st the side of the machine after sewing your seam it will NOT be long enough for it to not come out of the needle the next seam you try to sew, this is most aggravating and doesn't make sense.
I have been sewing for over 35 years I have worked with everything from a Husqvarna to a Janome to a baby lock to a brother to Industrial machines you name it I have used it and this is by far the most frustrating machine I have ever worked on now granted is a portion of the price of what I usually pay for machines I will give it that but for a seasoned seamstress it has too many quirks and if you are showing 8 hours a day like I am it's better to just keep it as an absolute must have backup and that is it for when your other machines are down I do not recommend this machine at all especially for beginner and I've heard this from many many seasons designers seamstresses people that work on machines all day we are all having the same issue with it

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience but really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention.
The rewind bobbin option didn’t work and I had to take the stupid thing apart and clean off the litter and then oil it. It finally worked with some tinkering.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We set a high standard for ourselves, and we’re so sorry to hear this item did not meet your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to post this review.
I purchased this machine to make crafts. It has not disappointed. Make sure you take out the bobbin case and clean under it. Thread trends to pop out of its pathway and you will have to rip them out to redo, but i am on top of that. :) otherwise, love it so much I purchased 2 of these machines!
