I had to replace my container because the blades were not spinning properly. The unit arrived in a timely manner. The first time I used it I was blending mouthwash with essential oils. The container was marred by the oils. This is the same mixture I had used in the old container with no issues. Obviously the plastic has changed. For the price I found it more than disappointing. Hopefully this container will hold up despite the poor plastic.

Hello, we're sorry to hear this. We changed our containers in 2007 to BPA free. Please note that blending with volatile oils may cause the container to retain the oils and cause permanent discoloration and pitting of the blades in your container. Please call 1-800-848-2649 for further assistance.

The new 64 ounce container does not work as well as my 10 year old container was working. It does finish a bit faster, but it leaves chunks of apple under the blade!

After leaving a butter knife in the container...

We have three items that we say we would replace immediately if they break: 1. Our whole house fan; 2. Our Vitamix; 3. Our touch-on/off kitchen faucet. Well, our vow was put to the test when I accidentally left a butter knife in the container of our Vitamix. It was a wild experience! I completely forgot that I used a butter knife to add Better Than Boullion to my enchilada sauce and since there was hot water in the container, my thought had been, "I'll leave the knife in and the Better Than Boullion will melt into the container instead of me wiping it off on the side and then it being all gross at the rim." Well...that might have been a good idea but after ten minutes of doing other things, the steam on the sides of the container masked the knife and I completely forgot about my big idea and when I turned on the Vitamix...holy cow!!! It was wild...the sound, the mess! I don't have a photo but enchilada sauce was everywhere! the butter knife blew a hole in the side of the container!
Long story short, I was a little on the fence about replacing the container because they are expensive but after just a day or two I was ordering. We are thrilled to be back to the use of our Vitamix. The new container works no differently than the old one did but I will say, it's very clear and shiny and kind of nice to have a brand new one!
