I purchased this phone for my 75 y/o father. He refuses to use a smart phone and prefers these simpler flip phones.
I will say that he’s had 3 older versions of this phone. We’re really loyal to Kyocera simply because it is the most durable, heavy, easiest to use best quality flip phone on the market.
I got this to transition back to a simpler phone and spend less time staring at a screen. It's big and heavy but I got used to it. If you want something for calls and texts, it does the job. This is not a phone I want to haul around and look at, and that's a good thing!
I was forced to upgrade to the new AT &T network so I couldn't use the phone I've had and liked for years (Rugby). AT &T sent me me a cheap flip phone for free that was a nice courtesy but it was really junk. I looked around for another phone that was comparable to the Rugby and this was as close as I could find. The DuraXE is twice as thick as the Rugby and 3X heavier so if you don't mind walking around with a brick in your pocket all day I can recommend the phone. I'm still waiting for all the advantages of the new network, nothing yet.
